I think it depends entirely on how poker is introduced to children.
If it’s taught as a strategic card game — focused on probability, patience, emotional control, decision-making, and discipline — it can actually develop useful skills. In many ways, it’s similar to chess: learning to think ahead, manage risk, and stay calm under pressure.
But the important part is keeping gambling and money out of it at a young age. Once the focus becomes chasing wins or playing for real stakes too early, the unhealthy side of poker can appear very quickly.
So in the right environment, with the right limits, poker can be educational. The key is teaching the strategy and mindset first, not the gambling aspect.
