I would choose always any others tournaments excepting sit and go tournaments mainly because the prizes of these kind of tournaments are ussualy too small 😝😀 and that happens because sit and go tournaments involve a small number of players.:five:

If you like boring poker with regs play sng, but if you want destroy recreational players and hit big money choose jackpot poker. Good Luck

Yes, I would play Sit and Go 'tournaments at $ 2 to try to raise more bankrolls, but it's better to play knockout tournaments where you can make a profit right into the bankroll for knocking out players!

Do a combination of SnG with MTT buyins for $2.00. Be looking some overlays on the MTT. Been my bread and butter for online play. Might as well stick with what works.

I would choose sit-n-go tournaments. You will have enough for 50 such games. It will let you know your real level of the game and then analyze the future perspective. Besides, I’m not a fan of jackpot and I don’t like the format itself. Your goal will be to go to the prize money and increase your bankroll as often as possible at least 2 times. It is important to understand that you yourself are more in heart. After all, you will ultimately have to make the last important decision. Sngs are the safest route but there can be a higher upside with the jackpots cause of the chance of rolling a monster jackpot. Just keep in mind the jackpots have a much higher variance route.

I would avoid jackpots there is too much gambling involved.

My vote is for sitngos.

I'm not a big fan of jackpot poker for profit. But maybe I've played them wrong.

I have never played jackpot poker but I would definitely check it out so that I could decide which I felt was more profitable. Or, I may mix it up and play some of both.

If jackpots are so called "spin and go's" or "Twisters" with a random prize pool and 3 participants, then it's the worst type of poker to play.

Sit'nGo is a better way to go for it. Personally I like and I'm quite good at hyper turbo HU games or large 90-180 players MTTs. But these types of games are designed as fast types of poker, 30-40-100-150 minutes and it's over.

The best value for $100 bankroll is following:

a) To prevent any possible tilt you must have a rule to spend not more than $2.2 or $3.3 per day, and this leaves you with 30-50 days of playing, reserve 4-6 hours at evening for that.
b) Using 2.2 or 3.3 per day leaves you with a few choices = play four or six 55 cent MTTs at PokerStars or 2-3 MTTs with 1.1 buy-in or one for 2.2 plus one for 1.1 or just one for 3.3. It's best to choose bounty-type MTTs
c) Depending on your choice after 30 or 50 days of gambling(not consequietive preffered) you may find out how good you're at tournament poker. If you'll be playing only JJ+ and AQs+ hands you will discover that after 12 days of messing around you will finally reach the final table and will have a chance to boost your bankroll to the next level.

Personally I think that cash poker or MTTs are something like sport, while other types of holdem like spin'n'go jackpots or speed poker are close to casino type of games. Why do the bet/call/fold thing in that jackpot game if you can simply buy a lottery ticket with a same chance to win a million, except for you won't have to play cards vs 2 opponents if such prize hits. In these jacpots you have to test your luck and see the river with short stack, so you have to all-in often and call all-ins... In the mean time during MTTs you may force opponents to fold better hand on flop, or to not let them catch their winning cards on the river, and this is priceless value of the MTT.

If I had such a bankroll, I would play SnG tournaments. According to statistics, SnG tournaments have always been more profitable for me.

It is perfectly acceptable to play $ 2 with such bankroll in any tournaments that suit you.

I would play the $ 2 sng to try to increase my bankroll it is easier to win than in the Jackpot Poker

2 $ SNG

In SNG has advantages:

- The smaller the variance
- less time
- Luck has much less influence than in MTT

I would play the sit-n-go's simply because the starting chip count for the jackpots are so low that folks tend to turn it into a shoot out. The jackpots can be worth it if the prize is high enough and your cards hit but overall I would say sitting down at the sit-n-go's have a better win odds.

I would play tournament games if I had the $100 bankroll. I like tournaments better than Sng's because of more competition and bigger pay outs.

I appreciate all the responses! This is so funny, I posted this situation almost a year ago, and I had posted it to help settle an argument between a friend of mine who had just started his first bankroll online, and had asked me that question.

I gave him my “advice” but as hardheaded as he is he thought surely quicker games and the chance at a large prize pool would be the way to go. So, in his mind jackpots where the way to go, and he just didn’t understand that if you have an edge in a certain game that’s obviously where you want to be playing.

Being able to beat a game consistently is far more important than playing a high variance game that gives you a shot at bigger payouts. Which is just one of many reasons I’ve been a cash player for the last ten years. It’s fun to see this post get cycled back through again however.



Update: he busted his roll “multiple” times since then playing jackpots. However, this is funny that this pops back up here though since I’m getting close to the halfway mark in my freeroll challenge. I’ll likely be back Into the micro world again after beating them many times.
I’ve been playing mid stakes for the last year, but will have to return to micros again when I do my 1k - 10k challenge. Still got another 600$ to go in free rolls but I’ll make that in less than year.

If you want to follow the challenge just look for freeroll challenge 0-1000 in the challenges section of the forum. you can sweat it for the next few months, and then follow the 1k-10k

My vote is SNGs (which seems to be the broad consensus).

Jackpot poker (& its variants) feels way too much gambling. I admit I play it, but I'm down very little, and wouldn't want to put $100 on the line.

I admit I generally enjoy it. I've said this before -- it's like junk food. While you're doing it, it can feel great. It is poker, after all, with intense timing. Afterward, I do feel a unhappy (like fast food does to my tummy) since it feels so much like gambling.

(For others, they may be competent jackpot players & some my junk food analogy doesn't ring true. In my case, it does.)
