Streaming it live on ESPN3 4-handed. This is one of the best FT's I've seen in a long time. As much as I love to dog on Helmuth, he's playing really well -- as in completely different than his usual style. Very aggressive and seeing tons of flops. He's at 44% flops seen since the FT started, way ahead of the other 3 left.

He had a couple of semi-blowups earlier when he ran pretty bad and lost his chip lead position to Baranov, but then 2-outered Chino and made a hero call against Baranov to take a huge pot and regain the lead. On break now with Helmuth in the lead with 5.8m to Baranov's 3.3m. Albertini and Chino are the shorties at 1.9m and 1.5m.

Rooting Phil on for #13...

Another down and up for Phil, lost the lead then got it back again.

Phil's also in the lead for POY, with a very good chance to take it down this year. Two very good years in a row for PH.

Yeah Cheong went out 4th in the last hour for around 292k euro. And yes it's on ESPN3, as I noted in the OP.

Also, I'm really impressed with Antonio's analysis. He's been dead on the whole time I've been watching.

Never seen a dealer deal like this one. Instead of the usual dealer or mechanic's grip and thumbing off the cards, she holds them underhanded and swipes the top card off with her fingers palm down.

PH = 5.91m
Baranov = 4.4m
Albertini = 2.29m

Daniel tweeted yesterday that PH was playing totally different and the rest of the players weren't adjusting well. Antonio is just now saying he's never seen Phil play like this. Just called him a maniac, lol. Said nobody will call him a nit for awhile now. :)

PH is 3-betting every hand too.

Antonio just said that it "kills him" to admit that he likes the way Helmuth is playing right now...

Somewhat, he played a Q4o hand really badly a bit ago, but then again he's also made some really good plays.

LOL and the rollercoaster continues.

Baranov = 6.84m
PH = 4.13m
Albertini = 1.63m

Phil is hilarious. Just accused Baranov of playing too many hands, lol.

And... he's back.

PH 6.29m
Baranov 4.38m
Albertini 1.9m

Phil just picked up a big pot when he tripped up on the river with 42s after Baranov paired his J on the turn.

WTG? He's the biggest dick in poker and doesn't deserve to win anything especially as it'll only serve to inflate his ego and make him even more unbearable to watch.

Seriously? :rolleyes:

I've always been the first to get in line and slap Phil for his attitude and antics and poor cash play. But he has absolutely ruled tournament poker for the past 2 years, and he showed everyone in this tournament that he can change up and stay relevant.

#2 in POY last year and almost a lock to win it this year, 13 wsop bracelets, 2 ME wins, all time high in WSOP cashes and #3 in all time earnings, with 3 $1M+ scores in 2 years.

Hate his actions all you want and I'll join you, but you can't argue with his career. So yeah, I was stoked to see him take it down. Nobody gave it to him, he earned it.

He was playing a bit strange at time. It was the battle with Baranov that made him play that way. He owned him quick HU. Well done Phil.
