It just seems like every time I deal with what is at the time the most glaring weakness in my game, another one pops up and affects me just as badly. My problem right now is I'm confrontational. I don't like it when people mess with me. This creates problems for me in poker particularly when someone overbets or raises at me--like when someone shoves with a truly massive stack. This anger at people raising me all in got me out on the bubble last night, KK vs. QQ when I had over TWELVE THOUSAND chips. It was totally unnecessary, I totally saw it coming, but I freaking snap called because who the hell does this asshole think he is no matter WHAT cards he has?!

It's STUPID. Invasively so. And I'm wondering who else here has this sort of problem.

You are not alone, I have the same problem! I have not the weakness, but the more incomprehensible fear. I must rest, I just came from fishing and quite different myself feel. Try to find some rest for yourself.

I bet if you were to poll most members here they would tell you certain players and how they play can cause them irritation, Its how you harness your calm side and push back and believe in your hand or game and try not to let it push you into making poor decisions.

As I understand you. I also become more and more a confrontational person, because in poker it's not always as you want, there are many inadequate players who are subject to emotions and aggressively attack you with any cards or bluff into insolent. Very often those guys from whom I have won chips begin to bet against me constantly and in any position. Unfortunately, I can not cope with my emotions yet and stupidly respond with aggression to aggression (

This garbage is present in everyone, but you have to take it easy. It's just a game and nothing more. Nerve cells do not regenerate.;)

Ya I use to be like this. Gladly seeing all the bad beats you see when playing online poker and playing hours and hours and hours a day helps get rid of it. You either play poker for fun or you play it as a business. You're own business where you want to make $$$$ and you won't put feelings too much into it.

I don't have that problem. I don't take raises or over bets personally, it is just poker after all. Over bets by design are meant to force to to make the wrong decision, by getting irrationally angry when someone overbets your making it more effective

It's a strange thing but ultimately you have to be in control of yourself. The first step is being aware of your reactions to things. Once you are aware of the reaction, you can adjust your behavior accordingly. Poker will force you to learn these life lessons.

This is especially true in a live game, where people feed off your reaction and will needle you even more if you show it to them.

Poker is a game of little control. In the short term stuff happens. Bad players win, big draws miss, guys hit miracles. You have no control over these things, but the one thing you can, and MUST control is yourself.

You piss the wrong guy off in a live game, and you could run into some trouble outside the casino.

Is this thread even serious? People have a right to play the cards how they want to. It is a game of different styles. If you can tell their style already then adjust accordingly. When you are wrong or unlucky, intend to say nothing, or nh. No, I am not a confrontational person. What is more stupid than donks is regs complaining about donks and how bad they are. They will either leave the game or learn how to be better next time. That is why poker is dead.

I believe we all look bad when we get punched in the face, receive better cards and end up losing it is normal, when we play poker, we can not enter the game of our adversary, often they do it so that you end up entering TILT

Does sarcastic count? I'm a bit of a smart#$%, and while I'm not confrontational I have no problem giving back to others who are. I don't consider myself a white night by and stretch of the imagination, but if a player is bullying or talking smack to others at the table and no one is giving it back to him - I'll step in and take them down a rung or two.

I play the game for fun, and humor comes into the game frequently for me for this reason. At live tables, I'm outgoing and usually the "life of the table." I used to travel or a living, so I have no problems starting up conversations with complete strangers.

This is poker. When you push or accept the push, you are subject to community cards. Maybe you are taking poker very seriously, to someone who is not a professional. Try to interpret as a game to relax, and if possible for a while.

lol find this post funny, think you need to quikcly deal with that problem as you can blow away your stack and/or bankroll because of such behavior. shouldnt let your decision base on an emotion such as anger or frustration, it happens to us all at some point in time where we might meet super aggro, fishy etc players but you still have to focus and stick to your solid game(whatever that might be for the individual). wish you all the best

I was super pissed off when I first read this, suggesting I quit so offhandedly. Embarassingly, it was only TODAY that I realized just who was SAYING it. Dangit McGee you freakin' troll! Troll NECROMANCER even. This thread was dead! XD XD XD

I play poker, I have not had conflicts at the table with other players.
But that's when communicating on the forum, I met rudeness and insults.
It's sad that there are such ill-natured stupid specimens of the human species.:)

I use to get emotionally involved and it was a mess. Then with time, I began to adjust to the negativity and focus on learning.
Be more patience... Maybe the game brings out an issue that ya need to deal with in a mental way.
