If you could give only one piece of advice to a new poker player, what would it be? I think learning position and hand selection is a great place to start.

I think the most important thing is to choose your starting hands carefully, and to play aggressively when you do play.
The funny thing is, I still consider myself a beginner, so I don't know if it's a good idea to follow my advice.
🤣

Accepting variance aspect of game ,its part and parcel of game and patience and believing in process is the key ,Success doesnt come over night ,Its not quick money scheme ,

Study your opponents. Most poker players have their own playing style. By noticing recurring actions of your opponents at the table, you can draw conclusions for effectively competing against them.

The most important thing to understand at the beginning is what variance is. Once you understand that, everything else will make much more sense. Trust me, it’s the most important thing.

Keep studying. 15 years ago I learnt, then stopped, then just played for many years getting stuck in the same spot, all because I couldn't be bothered to learn anymore.

Play thight and aggressive(this includes don`t limp as RFI(Raise first in) and rarely limp behind if someone raised before you) and make a free GTO Wizard account for good preflop ranges.
Preflop is where the misery starts.

I’d say learn position first. It makes so many other decisions at the table easier once you understand it.
