You hold A♠ K♠ on A♦ 7♣ 2♥ and feel pretty good about top pair. The K♦ comes on the turn, giving you two pair. You bet, your opponent calls.

The Q♦ hits the river. You bet again, get raised, and make the call.

They turn over J♦ 10♦.

That river really changes the whole hand.

Have you ever had a river card turn a strong-looking hand into a nightmare?

Yes I have, many times - especially like when I hit a flop with a two pair - i feel confident that I can win this pot - but the problem comes when one stubborn player won't fold - he is probably just fishing...and that the river comes and the player hits a straight or a flush with the worst hands ...And also sometime when i have pocket pair - like even an A A - and you miss the A on the hand - and the river throws a two pair for a lucky player ...

When we control the game, we expect a good ending. Chaos sets in when we stop thinking about changes. One card changes everything.
Look at this hand. A river bet and a raise from the opponent indicates a stronger hand. Villain won't raise with weaker hands. A bluff is rare, or a monster hand is more likely.
