Hey everyone, getting back into the swing of things after a short break! I'm curious—what's your go-to warmup routine before jumping into a long online session? Do you review past hands, or just dive right in?
Of course, I don't review past hands. I don't do any warm-ups (I can only have some tea or coffee before an important tournament). I don't think any special warm-up is necessary before a tournament starts. At least not for me. 🤔
Now days that I'm not playing near as much as I use too I just make a coffee or get a drink and dive right in. As I have limited time to play no need to waste it doing useless stuff.
Now days when play bigger MTT's....I'd do hand reviews of my last bigger buy-in MTT a day or maybe 2 days before the next one so I could have that rolling around in the back of my head and thinking about the next one and how I wanna play it or about any changes I might wanna or need too make. As I don't play as much now days it helps get me thinking and in the poker playing frame of mind.
For cash games I mostly just make a coffee/get a drink and jump right in. No need to be wasting time when my playing time is limited.
I usually fall somewhere in the middle of what everyone is saying. I definitely need to grab a coffee like hardongear and john_entony, but I also like to spend about 10-15 minutes reviewing marked hands from my last session. It's not a deep dive, just enough to get my brain out of 'everyday mode' and into 'poker mode.'
SpanRmonka's idea about finger stretches is actually genius though—I might have to start adding that to my routine to avoid the dreaded late-night misclick! Good luck on the comeback grind.
