Trapping is a very valuable play but it needs to be executed properly. We need to know the V's range is capable of making a strong second-best hand and will bet it when they do.

Slow playing nitty passive players never wins the same amount as betting ourselves. This V type is going to raise their best hands and continue betting when we flat that raise.

I agree with eetenor, trapping is dependent on the player profile type you are playing against. If it’s against a passive then you need to be the one getting the money in there. Against an aggressive player who you feel is certain to bet then yeah, set the trap. Try not to get fancy though, most players aren’t paying attention to what you are doing and they are just playing their cards so they might do a lot of checking behind you.

having played the trap, it does work, but only with players that keep betting, get to know those players and that is the best players to trap, timid players will never bet heavy enough to make it worth your while.
