Do you ever regret checking back the flop?

I had AQ in position and the flop came A 6 5. Villain checked and I checked behind because I thought I could get some value on later streets.


The turn was a pretty bad card for me and suddenly I wished I had just bet the flop.


Do you prefer taking the free card with hands like this sometimes, or is betting usually better?

You have to value cuz here You gave Vilain—not yourself—the chance to find a better hand for free.
