Do you rely on your instincts when making decisions, or do you always follow strategy?

Yes, I used to rely on my instincts when I started playing poker. But I only did that because I didn’t know enough about the game. Now I don’t rely on my instincts, but play according to my strategy and in accordance with the playing styles of my opponents at the table.

My instincts are not to be trusted. If you want to make a profit, just do the opposite of what I think. My instincts will not lead to profit. Having a tilt right now. 😟

Yeah instincts will get better with more and more experience. Study helps. I trust my instincts but when they are wrong I don’t ever freak out about it, just learn from it and move on. This game is fun so I try to keep it that way.

If you force it into instinct vs. strategy, you’ll end up misplaying spots.
The strongest players blend both—but not 50/50.

Sometimes but not always. I prefer to play it safe.

If I have a good read or strong feelings about someone, I will naturally deviate from my strategy.

I still make mistakes, both instinctively and logically.
Sometimes I trust my intuition and make mistakes, and other times I think too much and end up making a bad decision anyway. I think that's part of the learning process.
Lately, I've been trying to slow down a bit and understand why I'm making these mistakes, instead of just reacting.
