I think table image can change how opponents react to your bets. Sometimes being tight early can help you get more action later.

If you are tight early why would your image then suggest that you get more action later? Would they not think you are still tight? Which means they would not play back at you with a wide range.

Would it not be more likely that you can steal pots later as they think you are tight?

Are you referring to players thinking because you are tight you will overfold? Do we really want players to be attacking us to make us fold more frequently?
Or players thinking you will not fold because you are tight so they get max value from you when they are ahead?

So they fold to us because we are tight- unless they have a strong hand-so we win small pots and lose big ones.

🤔🤓

Or they might see you as too cautious or even a little scared to take risks. Then they may start testing you with almost any hand they have, raising or re-raising just to see if you are willing to call. In that situation, being tight can actually encourage some players to put more pressure on you. I think it really depends on how each opponent interprets your table image. Some players may respect a tight player and avoid getting involved without a strong hand, while others may see the same player as someone they can push around. That is why I don't think there is one fixed reaction to being perceived as tight.
