Hi everyone!
We’ve all run into those super aggressive players (or "maniacs") who raise nearly every hand, double barrel with pure air, and try to push everyone off the pot. While it can be frustrating to play against them, they are actually huge profit sources if you adapt your strategy correctly. Here are a few key adjustments I’ve learned to deal with these aggressive players:
+ Widen your calling range pre-flop against a maniac, standard tight ranges can be too restrictive. hands like medium pairs, strong Aces, or suited connectors gain extra value because their raising range is so wide and weak.
.+Induce bluffs (Play your strong hands passively) instead of fast-playing your monster hands (Sets, Two Pairs, Nut Flush Draws), consider checking or just calling. Let them take the lead and continue betting into you with their air.
+Lower your threshold for value calling on the river
Against tight players, a top pair with a decent kicker might be a fold to a heavy river bet. Against a maniac, top pair or even second pair can often be a profitable call because their range contains so many missed draws and pure bluffs.
+ Avoid bluffing the bluffers
Don't try to out-bluff a player who doesn't like to fold! Save your bluffs for tight-passive players. Against maniacs, keep it simple: Value bet relentlessly when you have it, call them down when you're ahead, and fold when you completely miss.
How do you guys handle super aggressive players at your tables? Do you prefer trapping them or re-raising them aggressively pre-flop?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
