How do you play pocket JJ under the gun ?

I would check as you still have everyone to play behind you. Too many hands can have you beat. JJ not optional UTG to play strong unless you have somewhere too go.

Factor in these things.

Your stack size and the effective stack size of anyone who can cover you.
The stage at which you are at in the tournament.
The table images and calling ranges of others at the table.
Your previous calling range and table image prior to this decision.

JJ UTG is obviously worth playing and more often than not - a small raise is optimal as a play to see where you are - the only caution is here, anyone playing less of a hand but hitting the flop is likely to bet out and chase a set or better, isolating player numbers is key here and again any reraise should be judge on its merit - the deeper into tourneys you go - the likelihood of players jamming AK against any raise is increased as is any pair.

a small percentage of the time I'll limp to trap, if there is a maniac to my left. 99% of the time i'm open raising

JJ is either 3bet
either this call doesn't count JJ is very endowed with a pocket I'll go Alyn only if I'm low on chips

how do you 3bet under the gun?

It depends on the level of hatred for JJ at that period. Legit stuff. 🙂

we make a standard raise and then it all depends on what kind of stack structure we have in the tournament and what the flop will be if someone calls

Depends the situation but in more cases I raise 3times the open bets..

opinion

I play calmly and without emotion. I advise everyone to take it.

JJ I will tri bet and see how it goes, If someone goes all in I fold, but if I am under 10BB I will go All in! :js::jc4:

Most of the scenarios I would go all in, but it would depend on how early or late the MTT is, cash game I would 3bet, see how the table responds and see the flop, if we see an overcard DONT overplay...

Hi

I consider that with JJ I always do badly, I have won the 10% that I enter, and I leave with all of them pre flop. It's a complicated hand JJ

It is a hand you can play under the gun, and if you want to play it, play with a raise 3bb, or a simple raise.

If I'm short-stacked: all-in!
In other situations a big blind is in order. JJ is one these funny hands where it's hard to find a middle ground.

I limp and play them like pocket 2’s, any over cards and I am outta there

I play poker for fun that passes the time
faster and learn a little more

Fish hooks are a tricky hand. If you want to be aggressive with them....know your table....if not, play the like a mid pair

UTG? I stand up, violently fling them into the middle while yelling at the top of my lungs "you didn't cost me a fcuking dime this time pocket J's!"

if stacked..

If I am chipped-up,i play semi-aggro. If under-chipped, lag, If UTG, half of the time I will try to limp in, LAG, half the time TAG.

Well most of the times ill go with a 2 bet, expecting someone to go 4 bet or 3 bet. Even if they dont, usually around 3 to 4 guys see the flop, which is good in payout.
