Improving your poker strategy is mostly about building a simple, consistent process and sticking to it. First, focus on fundamentals: play tighter preflop, value bet strong hands, and avoid marginal spots out of position. Then start reviewing your sessions, even 10–15 minutes after play helps you spot leaks. Pay attention to why you lost chips, not just that you lost them. Add structured study: ranges, basic GTO ideas, and common spots like c-betting or defending blinds. Also, watch stronger players and compare decisions. Finally, work on discipline, bankroll management and emotional control are just as important as strategy. Small improvements, repeated over time, are what actually make you better.

At the top right of your CardsChat page there is a TAB called Poker - Poker School

That course can really help you understand positioning & bet sizing and playing against different styles of players in a tournament setting.

Pokerstars also has their own Poker School :) I recommend utilizing both to try to understand game theory of poker

There are some great books on poker game Theory as well but they can be long.

The Poker School Cardschat offers is interactive, same with PokerStars'.

Best wishes on improving your strategy at the tables!

Discuss your strategies here on Cardschat, other players can point out mistakes you are making or possibly learn something new from you - discussing specific hands is often beneficial.

You'll only improve by studying and playing a lot and applying what you study.

Study ranges by position, master the math (odds/outs), control your emotions (tilt), manage your bankroll.

There are some interesting streamers , who are explaining each hand they play, how and why they do.
Soon you'll realize that a decent poker player is playing 20-30 hands in a 7 hour tournament . Extract as much value from your good hands , and try to stay out of sticky sittuations

Hi wong! The best way to improve is a mix of study and experience. Start with the basics: play solid hands, focus on position, and value bet your strong hands. Then review your sessions — even 10–15 minutes after playing helps spot mistakes. Watching streams or discussing hands on CardsChat is great too. Little by little, you’ll start recognizing patterns and making better decisions. Patience and consistency are key — it takes time, but small improvements add up fast 👍

Good question. I ask myself this all the time.

Honestly, you don’t need a complicated strategy to improve quickly.

Most players get stuck because they try to learn *everything* at once. The fastest way to get better is to fix a few key areas:

**1. Play fewer hands**
→ If you’re unsure, just fold. This alone fixes a lot of leaks.

**2. Focus on position**
→ Play more hands late (button/cutoff), much tighter early.

**3. Value bet more, bluff less**
→ At most stakes, people call too much. Make money from strong hands.

**4. Think about stack size**
→ What you should do at 50bb is very different from 10–20bb.

If you just improve these 4 things, you’ll already be ahead of a lot of players.

If you want something more specific, post a hand you played (even one you lost) — it’s much easier to give targeted advice that way. I don’t mind taking a look and pointing out exactly what to adjust.

Ask others about the shortcomings of your strategy and what they would do in your place.Spend time planning, not just on current tasks.

For me, improving my strategy started with fixing the fundamentals — tightening my preflop ranges, paying attention to position, and avoiding marginal spots. Once I had a solid base, I began thinking more about ranges instead of just my own hand, and that helped me make better decisions in tougher situations.
What really made a difference was reviewing my hands after playing. I look at spots where I felt unsure or lost chips and ask what the best decision was, not just what happened. Over time, those small corrections add up. I also try not to change everything at once — focusing on one leak at a time has been much more effective.
