Which poker game would you recommend after Texas Hold'em?

Many players start with Hold'em. If someone wants to learn a second poker game, which one would you recommend first and why?

Personally I would recommended Omaha. Both game have enough similarity's so it is easier to learn in my opinion. Just straight Omaha. Dont go to Hi lo. I love that game 2nd best but it is not good to start there before you understand omaha.

You could try playing Omaha. There are far fewer tournaments than in Texas Hold'em, but you can still find Omaha on almost every poker site. PokerStars offers an even wider variety of poker variants, so you might want to give that poker room a try.

Regular four-card PLO is the sensible pick if the goal is carrying over what you already know, and I agree with the advice above to learn it before the Hi-Lo version. The rule that trips up every Hold'em player at first: you use exactly two of your hole cards and exactly three from the board, no other combination counts. Because everyone starts with four cards, one-pair hands are usually much weaker than you're used to, and the hands that matter are coordinated ones that can make nut flushes, nut straights, or big draws to them. Play it at tiny stakes until the two-card rule stops surprising you, then decide whether the split-pot version interests you. One caveat: if what you actually want is a seat in a particular home game or mixed rotation, learn whatever they spread, which might be a stud or draw game instead.

I'd recommend Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO). It feels familiar since you still use community cards, but the four-hole-card format completely changes hand selection and post-flop play. It teaches you to think more about equity, redraws, and nut hands. Just be prepared for bigger swings—PLO can be a wild ride compared to Hold'em, but it's a lot of fun once you get the hang of it.
