poker strategy isn't only about cards and math. Sometimes the overall mood of the table can influence the best approach.

At some tables, everyone is playing aggressively and pots become much larger than usual. At others, players are extremely cautious and rarely fight for marginal pots. Recognizing these changes and adjusting your strategy can be just as important as knowing hand ranges.

Instead of forcing the same style every session, I think successful players adapt to the environment they're in. Flexibility is often an underrated skill in poker.

Do you usually stick to one style, or do you change your approach depending on the table dynamics?

Yes, I think you should adjust your playing style based on the table. Every table is different. If the table is very aggressive, I try to be more patient and wait for strong hands. If the table is passive, I look for more opportunities to bet and win pots. I think being able to adapt is an important poker skill.

Exploitative play is inherently adaptable, so when playing exploitatively, no we do not change our style, we simply adapt.

In my experience, the players who thrive are the ones who can sense when the table dynamic changes and adapt smoothly, instead of stubbornly sticking to one gear. It’s less about “changing your style” completely and more about having multiple gears you can shift into when the situation calls for it.
