For me, the best way to handle a bad beat is to immediately close the tables and walk away. If I stay, I might start playing too aggressively trying to win my chips back. Taking a short break always saves my bankroll.

A player can control their emotions if they have a clear plan and defined goals. With this approach to the game, emotions simply have no place.

There are different reasons for tilt not only losing a big pot.
So first is to find out the real sometimes not so obvious reason for tilt.
Then there are a lot of ways to regain emotional stability.
Breathing methods, talking a walk to reduce stress, meditation and so on.

Tilt is usually not much of an issue for me. First, if you understand that mathematically, bad beats and suckouts not only have to happen, they have to happen a lot more than say 5% of the time. Remember that all-in pre AA will lose to 72o 14% of the time. That's not 1 in 20, that's 1 in 7!! Now think of how often JTs will crack your AA. So suckouts and bad beats are totally normal. If you can get this fact into your bones and stick there, you will tilt a lot less.

For me, when I am feeling agitated over losing a big pot, I recognize the feeling. When I recognize this feeling, I just fold pre the bottom half of my range just in case my emotions lead to a bad decision with a weaker hand. Obviously if I am dealt a strong hand like KQs it would be a mistake to fold pre, I will still play. This feeling rarely lasts more than a couple of hands. Then I go back to normal ranges.

If it happens 10000 times you just stop caring that much

Been playing so long I've pretty much seen every bad beat there is and after awhile it really just gets old and you feel almost nothing when it happens so I rarely get tilted much now days. Fundiver is right about experience helping......age and getting older and wiser also helps.

Also once one buys enough keyboards/mouses one simply decides he just doesn't wanna do that anymore :ROFLMAO:. Yes I went thru a few back when I first started playing.

I also will do and have done what Semprini recommends and does above. Hell if I'm out of position I'll also found hands like KQs rather then chance putting myself in a tough spot when I'm tilted and making it worse. Once 15-20 mins pass and I don't feel like I'm tilted I go a back playing like before.

Cheers!!!

Playing a lot of tables seems to help me.

If you always have another decision you need to make you dont really have time to dwell on a bad beat.

Also the more games you play the more you get used to the bad beats.
