Do you guys check opponents stats and make decisions on those or just play hands as they come. I find at times it does help a lot like coin poker and ggpoker have amazing inbuilt HUDs and can really help analyse opponents

If it's based on enough hands, then yes , absolutely.

If you've got 100+ hands with somebody, and they are a 40/20 and limp into the pot, you can confidently get the money in with 2nd tier hands knowing that you've probably got them beat.

The mistake can be taking them too seriously when it's based on hands you've shared with the villain and there's only a small amount of them.

All these stats are preflop stats they may give hints but even with a large sample size you have to consider that villain may change gears on an hourly or daily scedule and this can trick you. First hour he plays ultra loose, next hour ultra tight, and so on. Don´t expect that on micro and low stakes too often.

true, stats help a lot, but players can switch gears! You gotta watch what they’re doing now too.

Of course... you don't pay the same amount for a player with a 60% VPIP as you do for one with 20%.
