This is a safe space please now tell us the effects it normally has on you after losing a hand especially a good one to a shitty recreational hero call or just any hand, do you insult your screen, scream or curse in all languages you understand, and those who play live how do you react,
Me I used to stand ,walk and curse as much as I could but nawadays I just stand take a sip of cold water and tell myself it's going to be better next time

And after this how do you control your play to avoid making emotional decisions

After 21+ years of playing online there isn't nothing I haven't seen or a bad beat I haven't taken......so it's simply onto the next hand now. I simply don't get too bothered by bad beats now after 21+ years of seeing them. I remember breaking more then one mouse way back when thou :ROFLMAO:.

@G0930 .....I can confirm there 110% was emotional damage.

Cheers!!!

After a tough session or a brutal bad beat, I can feel it in my body. My heart rate stays elevated, my sleep is worse, and I find myself replaying hands hours later. On the flip side, a deep tournament run can create a huge adrenaline rush that's hard to come down from.

I also tell myself that next time will be better.... Although to be honest it doesn't get better......
I'm just used to such situations and perceive them as an integral part of the game. I don't know what will happen next time, but as long as poker brings me money I will keep playing.

Another of my flaws is that when I get angry, I can't think straight. I'm still working on it, not just in poker, but in life itself (you have to make me angry; it's not that I get angry about everything). I get angrier about not calling a hand I should have called than about a mistake on the river.

I tried listening to ASMR, music, everything, but the only thing that's helped is taking a break and going to exercise. Exercise oxygenates you, it clears your head

I would love to start using timebanks to avoid such situations as much as possible. Instead of rushing decisions, I can take the extra time to think clearly. But if I find myself in such a tilt situation, I try to reset as well as I can and keep calm. Even if I have a smaller stack, the tournament isn't over yet.

When I notice I'm tilted, I stop playing immediately. A bad beat costs one buy-in, but playing while tilted can cost ten. Taking a short break usually saves me a lot of money.

I recommend when you are emotional afected, you keep some days away from the game. Like this you wil teach yourself to despise the short therm on poker and recover your A game.

Like other members, I've also seen pretty much everything poker has to offer in the 10+ years of playing (both live and online); if I notice that anything affects my decisions, not just some bad beats, maybe even winning too much in a short period of time (I'm a believer in both winner's tilt and loser's tilt * this is well described in the 2 books The Mental Game of Poker by Jared Tendler, IMO definitely worth reading if you take poker seriously)... I take a break and I might just end the session... tho, this rarely happens nowadays as I have good poker mental game, decent bankroll discipline (at least for a serious recreational player) and over the years I've learned to focus on the process and not just on results...

Reframe losses. Instead of dwelling on defeat, turn it into a lesson. Write down everything that went wrong and everything that went right, your mistakes and your best moments.

When I get tilted, I take a short break and focus on whether my decisions were good rather than on the results.
Accepting variance and staying process-oriented helps me regain focus and avoid making emotional mistakes.

I normally curse the stupid fish lol then play a good song to take my mind off it and move on quickly, bad beats happen all the time or you run in to a better hand, coolers are real.

I take a break and do something not poker related. If its just not my day, poker will always be there tomorrow.

it depends on how big the tilt was. if its normal bad beat tilt i just shake it off as rigged rng but when its a big tilt bubble bust with bad beat , i just go and eat whatever in the fridge and crack a beer , which leads me to play more and tilt more and lose more eventually
