What leaks in your game need plugging?

What leaks in your game did you need to plug, and what have you done to stop them?

For me, I’d say, first, my impatience during the game. Second, disregarding obvious mistakes instead of adjusting and correcting them during gameplay. Third, neglecting ICM, especially when I’m close to ITM.

I’m starting a plan dedicated to plugging these leaks.

Great topic! For me, impatience and letting minor mental leaks slip by during long sessions used to be my biggest issues.

To fix them, I started setting strict session lengths, taking mandatory breaks to reset, and doing regular hand reviews instead of brushing mistakes under the rug. Tackling ICM pressure a bit better has also been a massive game-changer!

1. ICM a big one for me - starting to work on it now, study, reading..
Mistakes near/in the money-laddering are the most expensive I think, you cant throw away $$$ in a single decision.

2. Over-adjusting - Adjusting to villains is critical, but over doing it can be just as bad as not adjusting at all.
Some of my biggest mistakes happen over-adjusting! Need to be more mindful after hours of play, may be a post-it on the monitor will help?

I know, so far, my impatience has been my major disappointment especially on end game. I could have make it to the money, but I always end up throwing my chips away.

My 3rd leak that we share. ICM. I didn't realize the chips I'm holding is already valued in $.

I certainly have a few leaks Regie, but the biggest is paying you off on the river, knowing that I'm beat 🤪😂🤪🤣.

That's not a leak, Sami. It's a good play. Calling that river bet, you gained new information about the hand I bet.

And you've already used that info to beat me, putting me at a disadvantaged of 10-2 in our scorecard.

For me, the top problem right now is overpaying opponents on rivers. Players like to barrel the flop and turn, but betting the river is 99% value.

Facts, also just came to the realisation. It's actually crazy when you think about it, but once you understand it, the whole game changes completely

For me, the biggest leaks were playing too emotionally after a bad beat, not paying enough attention to ICM near the bubble, and sticking to my original game plan even when the table dynamics had clearly changed. To fix them, I started reviewing every session, marking key hands, studying ICM spots regularly, and forcing myself to pause before every big decision. It's still a work in progress, but I've become much more disciplined.

After a week I have noticed my biggest leaks being:

Learn to play what bigger stacks.
Learn to play more hands from button.
Know when to abandon ship at low stakes poker, and avoid stupid bluffing situations in freerolls.

That's true. This happened few or several times already past bubble time. My perspective to the game changed drastically compare to before bubble. I tend to adjust to my game play and be mindful of how my opponents act.

We share two leaks: not valuing ICM and not adjusting to correct play. I'd say I may have become emotional at times that I no longer care about ICM.

Oh yeah, especially when I was ahead on the flop and turn, but a pair comes on the river and I understand in my head that I'm paying off my opponent's trips, but I still call, sometimes out of resentment (which is the worst and most senseless thing), sometimes in the hope of seeing a bluff or "my" hand there

In satellites, keep in mind that players sometimes don't realize they should fold; so you shove, get called, and end up short-stacked after losing the hand.

I get you. I've been there too many times. It's easy to say "don't let your emotions control you", but when you're in that spot, it's sometimes hard to get out of it.

That's especially true and happens a lot in the early stage of the tournament. Next thing you know, you're left with 1 big blind.
