Yes, it's a big mistake to think that it only depends on luck, you have to have too many skills to be able to achieve a fluid and winning game, most of them don't have that. salutes

I think the biggest misconception is that poker is just gambling. While luck affects the short term, consistent success comes from skill, discipline, bankroll management, and making better decisions than your opponents. true , another missconception is that some people think its easy money when they watch pros playing.
They don't understand the required knowledge and skills which got the Pros where they are.

In reality, a lot of successful poker is about patience, discipline, choosing good spots, and making small profitable decisions over and over again. The boring parts of poker are usually what make the biggest difference.

The biggest misconception is definitely the idea that poker is all about physical tells and wild bluffing, mostly thanks to movies.
In reality:
* Short Term vs. Long Term: In a single hand or session, luck plays a massive role. Over thousands of hands, skill and math completely eliminate the luck factor.
* You Play the Players, Not the House: Unlike casino games, you aren't fighting a built-in house edge. You're simply competing against other people who make mistakes.
I usually explain poker to non-players as a game of risk management and incomplete information—kind of like a mix between chess and stock trading. You calculate risk, manage your bankroll, and make decisions based on probability while trying to capitalize on other people's mistakes.
