Hi everyone! 👋
I'm still learning poker and enjoying the journey. If you could give just one piece of advice to a beginner, what would it be and why?
I'd really appreciate your tips. Thanks in advance! 😊

How valuable the button is. Being last to act gives you more information than everyone else, so you can make better decisions, control the size of the pot, and steal the blinds more often. I used to focus mostly on my cards, but once I started paying more attention to position, my results improved a lot. Position is one of the biggest edges you can have in poker.

If I could give just one piece of advice, it would be to focus on making good decisions instead of worrying about short-term results. You're going to lose with the best hand sometimes and win with the worst hand, and that's just part of poker. If you judge yourself only by whether you won or lost a session, it's easy to develop bad habits. Study the fundamentals, review hands you weren't sure about, and be patient with your progress. The results will follow over time if your decision-making keeps improving.

Fold more preflop than feels reasonable, and when a hand goes wrong, look at the preflop call before anything else. Most expensive rivers are preflop mistakes wearing a disguise: the tough spot on the turn usually only existed because a hand entered the pot that shouldn't have. Beginners hunt for the right play on the hard street; the better habit is noticing which decisions created the hard street in the first place.

position is everything. seriously, try to play as many hands as you can when you have the advantage of acting last. it makes the game so much easier because you get to see what everyone else does before you have to make a move.

Hello and welcome to the Cardschat forum :)
I believe it is best for any beginner to start by taking advantage of freeroll or micro-buy-in tournaments. Playing tournaments in particular helps us practice various poker strategies and skills, while also cultivating and strengthening our patience. Most importantly, it teaches us that winning does not happen overnight; rather, it comes through patience and waiting for safe, opportune moments.
