I learned by my friends dad who has been playing all sorts of card games like holdem for years

I learn mainly about poker by watching the WPT on Challenge of a lunchtime (it used to be shown at 12pm) and then started to look at it online. I played the free SnG's and the Play Money for a while then started to play real money.

I first learnt how to play Omaha and 7Card Stud by watching last years wsop and then leaning by watching the people play online

Friends

Started playing with friends in school. It was a better way to learn than TV. However, thank the TV networks for offering the quality education that has spawned all the "New Professionals" out there.

Hi ,

i learned Poker by playing in Internet, casinos and private Tournaments.

I think the best way is to learn by playing.

See you

i watched the wsop every year and finally decided to start playing myself. teaching myself basically

I started playing when i was around 12 with my grandfather... he made a living playing poker for about 2 or 3 years so I was around it a good bit... he taught me the game at a young age which gave me plenty of time to develop my skill.... and i'm thanking him now that i can play real money

I learned to play from Tv shows ... and then continued learning by playing with my friends ... Now i play online at ultimatebet.com for free and wery shortly I'm gonna start playing for real money at the lowest blinds possible, just to get me going
I still consider myself a newbie into the game, but I feel like I'm getting better by the day

I learned to play online at Poker Stars. Now I play in some home games about twice a month.

Javier

My grandmother teach me five stud draw. Then i saw rounders and everything change for me. I learn texas, omaha, etc from the web. Here in Argentina are no games of omaha for example, but now espn and the travel channel are making a big change in the poker of this country

Hi everyone!! I learned to play from my ex-husband almost 20 years ago when I was living in Atlantic City working as a cashier at a casino. I started with 7 card stud, and just recently learned Texas Holdem and enjoy it very much.

I first played poker as kid on holidays nickel, dimes and quarters. Now it is twenty some years later and still as fun and challenging.

Funnily enough, I learnt to play online, using a tutorial I found on holdempoker.com quite a while ago... since then I've progressed from playing with play money chips onto real money.... also playing some games for some decent money with friends. How about you? Where did you learn?
I have learned only from playing online for about a year and watching on TV. I love it but need some help... I hope to find that on your site

A friend actually taught me, the spread of poker in the last 2 years is insane.

i started with play money as well - i think this can seriously hurt your game in the short term

problem being is that you spend a few weeks playing the play tables your brain starts to think that you need to play that loose to win - and obviously when you actually start playing the cash tables you get your ass kicked😉
id always reccomend new players to hit the 1 cent tables if they were really wanted to learn the game
Hey fonz How ya doing admin,

I myself learned to play poker on tv watching the game of the world series of poker 2002,

And then downloaded poker stars .net , the play chips version and lern and taught myself.

i learned how to play poker one day where a couple freinds came over.. we were bored and they wanted to play texas holdem i didnt know how to play so they tought me and it is history from there

i learned to play when i got married about 20 years ago and then started whiching the tournaments on tv then downloaded party poker then it went from there i don't play for real money right now but maybe in the furture i will afraid to lose to much money i real money i did win 2.75 on poker stars and 1.25 at UB that was real money.

I learned to play poker from the WSOP and WPT on television! I had no idea what poker was until that was previewed on television. I watched it a few times then became addicted!

the best way to learn how to play is to just play, you can understand what types of hands come up more often in omaha and 7 card stud and hold em and what it ussually takes to win. but to get the skill you have to play with money on the line were people play like there is omething to lose
