Why is "Position" (acting last) considered the most important advantage in Hold'em?

You have more information than your opponents because they have already acted, allowing you to control the pot size and play more effectively). anyone having different ideas??

The position of acting last gives you information about how your opponents are placing their bets, so it gives you time to decide what to do with your cards.

“Because acting last gives you more information before making a decision. You get to see what everyone else does first, which makes your bets, calls and bluffs much easier to choose.”

What's nice about having position is you can dictate the play and how big the pot may get. Let's say you call with seven-two offsuit. Doesn't matter what the flop is. The flop is, you know, just a junk hand, it's not good for his range. You can raise his continuation bet. Now he has to decide what you have. Could he call? Yeah, he could. Did he hit the hand? He only hit the flop one out of every three times. If you smartly position, you'll be used to put players who are good in positions that are hard. So say he calls, you know, to see one street. Turn is another brick type card. Guy checks, you're still in position, you fire another bet with your seven-two offsuit. He's gonna be hard played to call a second time unless he did hit something. And that's part of the reason why position is so good. I mean, you can't do this every hand, you can't do this a lot. Players will pick up on to it and then know what you're doing. But there are times, depending on the player you're against, you can utilize this. It's also hard for a guy with, say, say he's got pocket jacks on a queen high flop. He c-bets, you call. You could have a queen, you could have pocket tens. It puts him in a hard spot because if he continues betting on the turn, say it's a two, again, the question is, okay, if you have a queen, you may raise, you may trap, you may... He never knows where you are and you can dictate what's about to happen.

Acting last is very important because you have more control over the game and can make better decisions.

Poker is a game of calculated risk. We can't calculate the risk without information. The more information that we have, the better decision that we can make. If we go last, we get the most information at the table.
