Set over set is undoubtedly one of the most difficult types of cooling to avoid.

Imagine you have 77 points on a high seven flop and think you are in heaven, only to discover that your opponent has the higher pocket doubles and has also flipped a set.

When the money starts pouring in, I think there's not much you can do.

But I'm curious how many experienced players actually find the card in these situations.

Have you ever successfully folded a deck of cards because you felt something was wrong in the action?

Or do you think folding the kit too often is a bigger mistake than getting a cooler once in a while?

Eu desenvolveria sua ideia destacando que a trinca de 7 não deve ser tratada automaticamente como uma mão para colocar todas as fichas, principalmente quando o board traz cartas altas que podem favorecer o range do adversário. It depends a lot on the flop texture. If I have 77 and the flop comes with a 7 plus a J, Q, K or A, I wouldn't feel as confident about building a huge pot all the way to the river. Even though I have a set, those high cards can give my opponent a lot of strong hands or draws. If the opponent starts showing a lot of strength, especially with large raises or aggressive action on later streets, I would definitely slow down and think about what they could have. I think this is where reading the board and the opponent becomes more important than simply looking at the strength of your own hand. A set is a very strong hand, but it doesn't mean you're automatically safe. If the flop is something like 7-5-2, I would feel much more comfortable putting chips into the pot because there are fewer strong hands that my opponent can have. But if the board is 7-K-Q, for example, I would be much more careful. I could still play the set aggressively, but I wouldn't blindly keep putting more and more chips in just because I flopped a set. Sometimes the hardest part is realizing that a very strong hand can still become a dangerous hand depending on the board and the action.

The worst feeling for me is having JJ vs TT all-in preflop then flopping a set and the board running out 4 cards to a straight much worse than set over set for me.🤢 Especially in an MTT ITM and 1 million up top.😢

Set over set is one of those spots where folding feels almost impossible. Unless the action gives me a really strong read, I’d probably struggle to let a set go.
