You may have been in a multi-way pot where an aggressive player bets, and suddenly you can learn a lot by watching everyone else's reaction.

Your seat maybe doesn't give the best position, however, being able to act later gives you the chance to see what everyone else does. This is known as Relative Position.

Would you rather act first, or watch everyone else act?

Sometimes the smartest move isn’t to act first it’s to watch, learn, and strike when the timing is right.

I definitely want position on players, multi-way or heads up. I’ll make more money with the same hand being in position all day long.

Is this a trick question? Give me position.

My decision to act depends much more on the strength of my hand than on my position at the table. Of course, I understand that position is important and can give you valuable information, but I don't let it be the main factor in my decision. If I have a strong hand, I'm comfortable playing it even if I'm in an early position. If my hand is weak, being in a late position doesn't automatically make me want to play it. I know this may not be the most traditional approach, but as I’m still improving my game, I feel more comfortable focusing on the cards I have and the way the hand develops rather than relying too much on position.

Its a huge advantage to go last, thats why no poker books say "make sure you open limp".

yeah true, sometimes waiting and watching gives you way more info than being the first one to act

yeah position makes a big difference, same hand can feel totally different when you get to act last

haha yeah, hard to argue with position, getting to see everyone act first is pretty nice

yeah i get that, strong cards can make position feel less important, especially when you already know you wanna play the hand

yeah exactly, going last gives you so much more information, hard to give that up
