Good afternoon guys, how are you today?

In poker, sometimes you make the right decision and lose. Other times he makes a bad move and wins. 😂

The problem is that our brain loves to judge the decision by the outcome.

Lost? “I played it wrong.”

Won? “What a read!”

But that's not always the case.

Sometimes you end a session at a loss and you still play your best poker.

Can you separate the result from the quality of the decision? Or does that river always end up influencing the analysis? ♠️

I try to separate the two, but I admit the river still influences me sometimes. It’s difficult to lose a big pot after making what I believe was the correct decision and not question myself afterward.
What has helped me is asking: “Would I make the same decision again knowing only what I knew at that moment?” If the answer is yes, I consider it a good play regardless of the result. In the long run, for me, good decisions matter much more than one lucky or unlucky river.

Good question.

My answer is that I always try to be honest with myself and to understand if I had a better decision to take when I played a interesting or an important hand (not only when I loose it, but when I win it too).

Sometimes I find clear mistakes from my part, sometimes from opponents part. Sometimes I find very good movements from my part, sometimes from opponents part (but this last one is rare in freerolls, I will not lie lol).

However, sometimes I just get myself facing a big wall of doubt and I see my lack of knowledge to certain things...

Anyway, this makes me want to learn more about poker, so these doubts are not bad at all.

Minha resposta é que sempre tento ser honesto comigo mesmo e entender se eu poderia ter tomado uma decisão melhor quando joguei uma mão interessante ou importante (não apenas quando perco, mas também quando ganho).

Às vezes encontro erros claros da minha parte, outras vezes da parte dos adversários. Às vezes encontro movimentos muito bons da minha parte, outras vezes da parte dos adversários (mas isso é raro em freerolls, não vou mentir, rsrs).

No entanto, às vezes me deparo com uma grande barreira de dúvidas e percebo minha falta de conhecimento em certos assuntos...

Enfim, isso me dá ainda mais vontade de aprender sobre pôquer, então essas dúvidas não são nada ruins.

Of course. I always try to judge the situation in which the decision was made, rather than the outcome and consequences that came after. If I shoved with the nuts on the river and lost, I would take the loss, but it will certainly be difficult not to convince myself that I played the hand wrong because of this river card. ♠️
