Do you think wearing sunglasses and hoodies at a live poker table helps your game or just looks silly?

My opinion is that sunglasses and a cap can be useful; at live tournaments, I’ve seen people who have a hard time hiding their emotions and even have tics when the flop is dealt, so if they’re wearing a cap and sunglasses, it would be harder to tell.

Hoodies are fine honestly, mostly because casinos BLAST the air conditioning and it gets freezing. But full sunglasses inside just looks tryhard unless you’re playing high stakes. Half the guys wearing shade indoors can barely see their own cards anyway lol.

The most valuable information usually doesn't come from looking into your opponent's eyes, but from their betting patterns, decision timing, and overall behavior. What really matters is mental preparation and strategy—not what you wear. Many people wear sunglasses and hoodies more to imitate what they see on TV than because they actually provide a real advantage.

i have to wear eye glasses on a live table just to see the flopped cards if i'm sitting at a far end . sunglasses wouldn't help , unless prescription ones i suppose .but wear what you want , it won't bother me .

I think it's mostly personal preference. If wearing a hoodie or sunglasses helps someone stay comfortable and avoid giving away physical tells, then it can have some value. That said, I don't think they make a big difference compared to solid fundamentals, good table awareness, and emotional control. Sometimes it comes across as trying too hard, but if it genuinely helps a player focus, there's nothing wrong with it. The results at the table matter a lot more than the outfit.

I've always had better results when wearing sunglasses but this could just be coincidence. It makes me feel better but it also can put target on your back.

Hoodies are fine ,sunglasses too . What I don't like are those players that wear headphones on both ears and then can't follow the action completely .

I'm fine with both sunglasses and hoodies being used at a live poker table by my opponents and while I'm rarely using them (especially sunglasses), sometimes when I have a very tough table/opponents it helps to 'hide' a bit

Though, I don't think we should exaggerate and use too many things - to cover everything - for example I don't like how many people are still using masks and/or some clothes that cover the entire face/body... We should try to preserve the elements that make the live poker great

Wearing sunglasses is definitely not something to be underestimated—it really can help, because your eyes give you away very quickly.
A hoodie is good, too, although it doesn't cover your face as much unless you pull the drawstring at the neck all the way tight—but that looks pretty silly.

It helps for sure but I don't respect players who need glasses.
Worst are those online losers with no Pokerface at all who are in hoody, scarf and glasses.

If you don't have a pokerface, play online .
