As long as you are not in a hand you can do things on your phone except making a call - you have to step away from the table to do that.

I expect it won't be long before having any electronic device at a Poker table will be banned.

Can't quite fathom why this isn't already in place. It's not like historically, card gambling has been synonymous with cheating!

It entirely depends on the Casino/cardroom.
Where I used to play, phones weren't allowed on the table. You needed to leave the table to use it.
But I aggree that should be a general rule

I don't think it will happen any time soon on the poker tables but MGM has started banning vloggers from recording at the tables.

Now other casino tables are a different matter. On a blackjack table phones are strictly forbidden - you can't even check the time on them so I am so happy I finally got an Apple watch lol.

I don't have an Apple watch:(

Are they good?

I won't even sit upstairs at a McDonalds, so have no need for a step counter. I did have one of those Bitfit things but gave it to the wife.

I love it - but it is not for everyone. I use it primarily as a watch because the display is amazing and easy to read. You can set it up to show whatever you want to see at a glance but I haven't had time to set mine up perfectly. I can also see the temperature and the date - but I want to add my steps because I do like to watch that daily.

It also comes in handy when you get security codes sent to your phone which happens to me a lot. Messages pop up on your watch - so I can just glance down and get the code. It also shows incoming calls - so I can quickly disconnect spam calls without having to grab my phone, enter my security code and go to calls to disconnect it.

Few people call me and I don't like talking on the phone for a long time at all. There's no problem.

Lol - if I did I would make them lower their damn prices. If you can find a good deal on one I would recommend you try it. :)

I have an I-watch, I have been meaning to use it to do the Dan Harrigton second idea to change up play, I can't remember the concept, need to look it up, but it has to do with where the second hand lands for times to use bluffs. Ok, that is a horrible explanation and need to cite the actual idea from the source lol. I used to use the i-watch to track how many steps I walk, but I sort of gave up tracking. I know the i-watch is a powerful tool, and I don't know why I don't use mine!

--------

About the topic of phones, I have seen people watching videos and even playing video games while playing a tournament, why would anyone do that when they can gather so much information just watching each hand? Do they not understand that every minute is valuable for information? Or perhaps they just do not care? I can't believe someone was playing bejeweled one time during a tourney....
--------
Side topic, I just bought this mini vacuum cleaner, for 18 bucks...it should pick up all the junk, lint, food etc on the felt where I play (in theory) hahah I hope it doesn't look rude, but I am over seeing all kinds of nasty junk on the felt when I sit down to play.

Without a doubt! I don't even look at him during breaks. I even noticed several messages and notifications today that I only saw several hours later. I'll leave it in front if necessary, but I don't really even touch it while I'm playing. I recommend that you do the same, you see, distractions will always harm your game.

I was at a Blackjack table and the dealer was shuffling the deck and I pulled out my phone to check my text and got told I couldn't do that.

So I stood up took a step to the left and checked.

Such sillyness.

To be honest, if players would regularly check their phones, I would be suspicious, too. On the other hand, it will be only a matter of years until people will have implanted devixes or this neuro link thingy Elon Musk is so keen on.

I always play using my phone but I think I would prefer to play using a laptop... When I win some decent money here, that's exactly what I'm gonna buy

Then you would be suspicious of most players at every table you play on. There aren't many who don't have their phones at the tables.

It might sound simple until you get in a game - especially is you are ADHD like me. I am not sure if I could handle playing long tournaments without one. I need the distraction to help me stay focused. (That probably makes zero sense to anyone who doesn't have ADHD - but as I said above most players have their phones so I must not be alone in that).

What am I doing on my phone? I am not texting people or anything like that. (except my husband to update him on my game). I go to CardsChat and post updates in my rail thread and check on the forum when I need a brief escape. It keeps my head in the game to be honest.

Honestly I wouldn't know. But if it has the features that you want it probably is. Mine is an 8 series but it was a gift so I didn't shop around to see what I wanted.

Try Amazon - they had some good deals before xmas. You could win some money in our games and get an Amazon gift card with your winnings. :)

I have an s10....guy from eBay says it won't pair...will look for something else.

I want one that you can answer your phone from, because the s10 is big and it's clumsy to get in and and out of zipped pocket.
