Is online poker dominated by bots?
Artificial intelligence has transformed online poker from a game of instinct into one increasingly driven by algorithms. From bots beating professionals to solvers on mobile devices, AI now influences every level of play.

I've been around for 20+ years playing online poker and was told bots we're killing poker when I first started. *Shrugs* yet poker is still alive and well 20+ years later.

I'm more concerned about collusion, poker stables, ghosting and RTA. Specially collusion because in my opinion it's one thing of all them that is seemingly unstoppable.

Cheers!!!

Good morning, everyone. Well, I don’t believe that artificial intelligence is going to kill poker, or any other game like chess, for example. The major poker sites are extremely good at detecting fraud and figuring out if someone is using any kind of external assistance. Of course, every game that involves money will always have someone trying to cheat.

So, is there fraud in online poker? Yes, there is, and it’s proven. But what worries me more — as I mentioned in a previous reply — is collusion. Poker teams. There are many poker teams out there that save huge databases of players and then share them among their teammates. Some players have access to over 100,000 hands from a single opponent, even though they’ve never actually played that many hands against that person. I’ve been part of a poker team before, and I know they do this. I don’t agree with it. I asked to leave the team because of that. I know that if the sites detect this, they will ban the players involved. I don’t want to risk losing my account. So I already told the team that I’m not okay with participating in that, and I left.

That’s what worries me — not artificial intelligence. Look at chess: they have software that calculates every move. Did it kill chess? No. Because their anti-cheat systems are very strong. And poker’s security is even stronger than chess, because poker involves much larger amounts of money. The prizes are huge — $10 million, $20 million tournaments. Chess doesn’t pay that. Chess tournaments pay around $100k. Online poker pays millions. So the security systems are on another level.

In my opinion, the risk of AI killing online poker is zero.

poker online is already dead.

What you see nowadays is a very, very rigged """"poker"""" for fun(or should I say, lack of fun).
Botrings, cheats, and rigged system. A slot machine like any other...

There's a joke that goes, "Poker has two years left to live," but they're somehow fighting bots, and yeah... that joke appeared about 10 years ago, and poker is still alive.

Is this contrary to predictions of an online poker boom within the next few years? As long as there are degenerates willing to punt away their stacks, it will keep going. And there are lots of degenerates out there.

Poker platforms will have to take some action to restrict the use of bots in online poker; otherwise, the long-term trend is the exodus of recreational players, who are the ones who finance the game.

No online poker is not "dominated by bots". Sites have ways to detect these, and "bots" have been an excuse used by bad regs for their lack of results, as long as poker has existed. Just like "rigged sites" have. Obviously cheating is possible and something, you need to be vigilant about, whenever real money is at stake. Thats also true, if you play live poker or buy a used car. But thinking, that your average $10 online tournament is full of people using advanced methods to cheat you, is pretty silly to say the least :)

Online poker will survive and continue for a long time to come; we just have to adapt.

Another prediction that won't age well. A year from now, you'll have to revise that forecast.

my forum mates... I read about the comments above and with that I leave my story: I had the experience of being on a great team here in Brazil in the last 2 years and what is very clear is that the game is human, so I believe that AI may come and whatever else appears... poker is and will always be eternal in person or online. Now what AI is doing directly with me is, I am very grateful, to manage my bankroll by supporting the day's grid, better than a lot of couch, including reviewing hands played!!! I highly recommend it, use AI as a couch and you were surprised!!! GL

PokerStars identified a guy suspected of cheating and forced him to film himself playing. In the video, he had to remain on camera the entire time and at the beginning, show that he wasn't wearing anything in his ears.Cheaters are becoming more sophisticated, but so are the methods for combating cheating. Once the game becomes widely known to be compromised, online poker will die, so sites have every interest in keeping up with cheaters. While bots have been caught, and while their presence can be annoying, no online poker bot scandal has come close to threatening online poker's extinction.

Thats actually a good tip. I'll do that to try and be profitable in this rigged environment. lol I mean it.
