Do you pay attention to the tables you choose, or do you just sit wherever there’s an open seat?

I think table selection can make a big difference, especially in cash games. A table with more recreational players and less aggressive regulars can be much more profitable over a large sample.

What do you look for when choosing a table? Loose players, high average pot, lots of action, or something else?

You mean bumhunting ,yes its very much important along with getting better everyday by studying

Its one of the most important things, and its just crazy that most people spend no time on it.

Its really not that difficult to sharkscope and color code players. Then in the future you can look for specific players.

Table selection matters a ton, especially in cash games - I always look for tables with crazy maniac players who play too loose and give away chips.... sitting with tight players who don't make mistakes is just a waste of time- I want the tables with lots of action where it is easier to build a bankroll!!

I definitely pay attention to table selection, especially in cash games. I’d rather sit with a couple of loose recreational players than a table full of tough regs. A high average pot is nice too, but player tendencies matter more to me.

Studying poker increases your ability to win. Choosing the right tables determines who you get to use that ability against.
You don’t need to prove that you’re better than every player at your stake. You need to find situations where your edge is big enough.
