If you lost your entire poker history, would you still play?

I was thinking about that these days...

Imagine opening the platform tomorrow and discovering that everything has been deleted.

No profit graph, ROI, hand history, achievements, or results. You would only have the knowledge you acquired and a bank to start over.

Do you think you would still have the same motivation to play?

Sometimes I wonder if we play for the challenge, for evolution, or because we like to look at the results that we accumulate over time.

What do you think?

As long as my winnings and bankroll aren't erased, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I play because I genuinely enjoy the game and have fun while I'm playing. Looking back at old results doesn't make me as happy as sitting down to play a good tournament today. The challenge, the decisions, and the excitement of every hand are what keep me motivated. My history is just a record—the real enjoyment comes from playing the game.

I agree. The story is interesting, but it's not what keeps me coming back. The challenge of making the right decisions and improving over time is what makes poker so addictive.

I have never used a HUD if this is what you are talking about. I think if a person goes to a live tournament, all these fancy tools would not be available for use.

Your skill doesn't disappear just because you lose your data. While losing your hand history (for example, millions of hands stored in a tracker) is frustrating, your strategic knowledge, experience, and discipline are still there.

Of course I'd still play. I do this because I enjoy the game, I couldn't care less about all those charts and things.

I mainly play for profit, and I use external tools like sharkscope and PT4 to keep track of my results. So for me this would not matter at all.

I'd probably be frustrated for a day or two, not gonna lie. Losing years of hand histories and graphs would hurt. But if all the knowledge and experience stayed with me, I'd still play. Those results are proof of the work, but the real edge is what you've learned. A bankroll can be rebuilt a lot faster than the skills it took to earn it the first time.

I think I would still play, but it would definitely feel strange at first. Losing your poker history means losing all the graphs, results, notes, stats, and memories attached to the journey. For a lot of players, that data becomes part of their identity.

Yeah, I wouldn't care at all.....clean slate, as long as they didn't steal my BR too I'm totally fine with it.

Either way, I'd still play, plus my best results are shared here anyway

Mostly wouldn't matter at all.. BUT >>> if my RoyalFlush screenshots were erased then that could be a problem. Take my bankroll but just leave my Royal screenshots alone!

Wouldn't careless as I do use a HUD it's mainly for studying/reviewing hands and I certainly don't need to use a HUD to win. Just need the bankroll still intact.

I play for the challenge and the side money.

I'd definitely be frustrated at first, but if I still had the skills, I'd start over. Results can disappear, but experience doesn't.

As long as my bankroll and knowledge stay intact, absolutely.
A graph only records the past, but your actual skill and edge are what create future results. Losing the data would definitely hurt, but rebuilding the graph from scratch would just be a fresh, exciting challenge.
At the end of the day, we play for the decisions and the edge—the stats will naturally follow.

As long as there’s some balance left to keep playing, there’s no problem; I’d start from scratch to keep playing and building my bankroll. I think it would be an extra source of motivation to grow and challenge myself.

Well, I think it depends on the individual player. Take a bad player who keeps making deposit after deposit—what are they doing? Now, looking at my own case: I have years of experience and, fortunately, I’m in the black; for me, it would be a matter of rebuilding my bankroll.

I’d still play; personally, I don’t use assistive tools, so it wouldn't make much difference to my data—as long as I don't lose my bankroll playing, haha.

I just got a new computer and lost all my hand histories, it didnt change a thing.

If I was playing thousands of sngs a month it would probably be a lot more frustrating.

It is surprising how many of the notes, color coding, and huds stats that I remember on the regs.

Yes, my motivation is playing as a hobby. Don't care about poker history or data. Past is past. I'm curious, why would you?
