In Greece there is 15% tax for $100+ winnings and 20% for $500+ winnings by the legalized poker clients like Pokerstars, Party Network, iPoker etc. The companies just keep those money instantly.

How beautiful the Middle Ages were, when the authorities only demanded tithes.

Tax in Latvia at the rate of 23% applies to winnings over 3,000 euros (during the taxation year); tax at a rate of 31% applies to winnings over 78,100 euros (during the taxation year).

Hi Maria,

That is not true....

If the prize comes from a game organized on a foreign website, then after the income the private individual must pay the 15% "SZJA" tax and the 13% "SZOCHO" tax.... ( according to the Hungarian law, this is illegal income and after pay the taxes it will be "legal")
If you play on the 2 (3) hungarian websites (that pay taxes in Hungary) you don't need to pay taxes after your prizes.
These are the legal websites in Hungary: https://sztfh.hu/nyilvantartasok/engedelyek-kozhiteles/

Hope you are not serious. We both know the gov. and connected corps., oligarchs basically privatized, monopolizied the so called gambling industry in Hungary. (And don't mention you write illegal-legal in a country where the country itself were privatized, even the local kings-queens admit the constitution is unlawful (illegal)... so after that what is legal or illegal...??? :) :) :) )

because the "law"... :) :) out of mind to pay tax after an earlier taxed income (as whatever the players spend, deposit in a pokerroom, already after tax.) if you support insane extortion, double taxation that's your business. don't mention, most of the pokerrooms are EU based, means the free market things, what for the EU exist, were created, so you (corporations) don't have to pay double tax, so if a pokerroom pays tax in France, Germany or in any other EU member state, it is the same like paying it in an other country, they don't have to pay in Hungary. Ergo the users, players don't have to pay, either.

I wrote: nobody knows anything... because of partly counting in the connected EU laws, in Austria there is officially no tax.

And how many players do you know who pays tax anyway??? I heard only few highrollers, who were fcked by gov, so they moved 200km to Austria. Like András Németh. But even if you check out the top 20-30 profit leaderboard in Omaha in this year on sharkscope, 5-6 players are Hungarians, and maybe 2 lives in Austria. I highly doubt the rest pay tax, especially that variance is wild, they have significant income from rakeback and marketing stuff etc., etc.

Even if they really want, I think it is very hard to count what they (the players) should pay, not to mention go after an individual by the gov. Nonsense. Especially that most of the players are micro, low stake players...

While billionaires with millions (100 millions in HUF) of tax arrears can live as kings, and nobody bothers them (+they take out that money from the country), average people, who spend all in the country, don't have to worry about this.

And once again, it is double taxation, and EU has law for it. That's an other question, the law is very flexible, the same law can apply, if it is good for big brother, and let it forget, if it is not so good...

In Denmark we keep 100% of our winnings from online poker if the casino has a Danish license.

no tax for poker here in Brazil, it's amazing!
That's not completely accurate. You have to pay from 7,5% to 30% depending on how much you won. You don't need to pay taxes if you won less than 400 dolars

In germany taxes are hold in by the providers. For example if you win a tournament at GGPoker, GGPoker takes some % of the winning and you will never see that.
