Tips to bluff in online poker

Hey guys!
I only play online poker on pokerstars, so i feel like insecure about bluffing. When its in person its easier cause it depends on your face and gestures, but when its online i think its harder! Any tip?

I can say one thing for sure, you should not try to bluff after a poorly played hand, where you lost a lot of chips or when you have a tilt, this is certainly not live poker, but online everyone feels such things

That’s a great one! Thank you. I realized when I’m loosing I start bleffing cause I wanna recover my money quickly. But its reaaly not a good choice!

Bluff only when it's plausible, remember you are trying to tell a story and it must make sense.

Seat position and range matter.

If UTG opens and its folded to you on the button and you call...he isn't likely betting out with 7,2

If the flop comes A,K,5 and he shoves, that's he's story, and he's letting you know he has the goods. AA, KK, AK. 55

If that flop had came 7,Q,8 and it's checked to you and you check, turn comes 6, it's checked to you and you c-bet and UTG calls, river is a 5...you then decide to shove. What is your story?

not only do you have this, a lot of people when they lose want to get their money back quickly, this is human psychology and it usually ends badly

If I miss the flop and feel the need to win the pot I will start considering what I'm going to try and represent my hand as instead of what it actually is.

Tell a history,dont start weak and shove and this kind of things,if you will bluff try to make a strong range impression in your oponents head the all hand,and i believe the best thing is to create a strong image of no bluffs in early and mid game,start with bluffs late game and they will believe because you did not bluff in the start of the game,only going to showdown with good value hands XD

Why not to bluff in cases when rest of the table dont expect you to do it

A tip for you.

Play some poor hands until the showdown, so later you can make it again, but with a winning hand, and the others will not trust you and will pay. It's a different type of bluffing.

To me, bluffing starts when you have proven to the table you are playing only high card hands(premium)
How?
By showing your hands to everyone that you have the hands, that’s why you play hard.

And as the game continues and you shove with garbage, you will not get to a showdown.

Bluffing is actually not easy.

If you are weak in bluffing, you can get caught and end up losing a big stack.

In the online game, you need to get some information during hands at the table, if your opponent plays harder, you can have mark it and try some bluffs on this player. In online, you have to the advantage because some rooms allow such notes on players.

the problem with that is what did you represent your hand as before the flop? sometimes a bluff can be started even before the flop.

You just gotta think about what the entirety of your range is doing in any given spot. A lot of people make the mistake of getting too cute with their bluffs and end up doing things they are never doing with value so not many of their bluffs get through if someone is being attentive.

You must analyze your opponents, there are players with whom it is easier to bluff and they get scared if they see that the game becomes aggressive... but if you do not learn to read the movements of your rivals, it is most likely that they are the ones who bluff at you

Best time to bluff is when you have something. That timing along with your sense of the game enable you to read the opponent. Then you pounce on the Opponents bluff. So you bluff week right when you have something. Probably a better name for that. Lot safer than shoving and loosing.

in the case I described, just the majority expects a bluff, here we are talking about the fact that many players after unsuccessful distributions or bad beats make rash bets

Before bluffing, you need to have an idea of the hand you want to fold. For example badly kicked top pair.

If it's a tournament, the period plays an important role, in the bubble for example the players have a lot of pressure and the fold equity is high at that time, so the probability of a successful bluff is high.

You can also bluff online, you just have to be smart. Preferably against a player who understands what you want to present to him in connection with your hand. Bluffing is like a theater role, if the "character" is performed and written well, then they will believe it. Bluffin is a very situative thing...it's not like "skill" that you have or not i guess..Bluff is needed to be done in a specific spot with a specific hand, otherwise opponents just won't buy it. If you are playing on microlimit, then i'd say that it's better not to bluff at all
