A little while ago I was playing a 6 seat PLO Hi/Lo freeroll on ACR. I mucked my cards, including the Ac, preflop and when they dealt the flop the Ac showed up in it. So is that what happens with a reshuffle?

"Game Hand #2684621092 - Tournament #34627920 - Omaha H/L Reshuffle

Dealt to EmilyWT [Th As Ac Ks]

EmilyWT folds

*** RIVER *** [Ac 6c Jh Ah] [5d]"

Yes, that’s likely what happened.
In online poker, when cards are mucked preflop, they go back into the deck pool. If the flop hasn’t been dealt yet, the system can reshuffle the remaining cards before dealing the board.

So the Ace of clubs you folded can still appear on the flop because it was returned to the deck.

This is normal behavior in most online poker software.
It’s different from live poker where mucked cards stay physically out of the deck.

May be others can comment more on this.

Exactly.

The intention is to prevent potential collision of players sharing their cards with each other but in reality it may confuse players who notice their cards again.

Thank you for verifying that. :)

Makes sense and I can see why it would work well to at least put a little crimp in the plans of any cheaters. :)

This is only on ACR in Omaha games. Do you actually play online?

I've never noticed this on other rooms... In general, I think everything should be like offline, without mixing discarded cards, and the fight against scammers should be done in other, more effective ways, considering the profit the room receives.

I'll start paying attention.

As others have said, this is only in PLO games on WPN (including ACR), and the purpose is to reduce the value of card sharing. Simple example from NLH: player A is UTG and fold. Someone open, and now player B in CO need to decide with 44. Player A tell him in a private chat he folded K4. Knowing this player B have an easy decision to not setmine with only one out rather than two.

No it is not normal on other poker sites. AT least I haven’t come across it other than on ACR. I could be wrong idk? ACR created the reshuffle feature, they say to stop cheating and collusion. they only have the reshuffle feature with their PL omaha and omaha 08 games right now.. Everyone is dealt their cards one player at a time and 1 by 1 players see their cards and choose what they want to do, if you fold your cards are immediately reshuffled into the deck and can end up in the flop or in players hand who are still left to act. This happens every hand. I personally do not like it but love playing Omaha 08. So it is what it is.

as other have noted many times , it's just the WPN skins( there are 5 of them, ACR and BCP the most well known i think ) that reshuffle . btw , it certainly changes the deck composition ( in plo people muck low cards and they come back into play, and it's the opposite in plo8 ). i'm not smart enough to program something to study and suggest any adjustments players still in the pot should make , but it's clear the math needs to be explored .

Yes, and it does I often see what I folded on the flop and in other players cards. I also see my folded pair turn into quads and sometimes 5 of a kind!

Yeah, that's normal with a reshuffle. Once you folded, your hand was returned to the deck and reshuffled, so the Ace of clubs could legally appear on the board. It looks strange the first time you see it, but that's exactly how the reshuffle format works.

I never noticed that but I was wondering how to prevent collision with groups usually playing together
