  • Lately, I’ve been coping better with the idea of bad beats; sometimes I bust out of tournaments, miss out on profits, and accept that it’s part of the game—after all, if the best hand always won, poker wouldn't be fun at all. The thing is, it might just be a mental trigger, but from yesterday to today I managed to spot a pattern and accurately predict my elimination from two GG events even before it happened, as if the winner had already been chosen, no matter how many times I had heavily dominant hands in a row. I know all about confirmation bias and variance, especially during this downswing on the GG app, but when I took those first two bad beats in both tournaments, I just knew they were going to lose to that specific player even with the better hand, and it happened so blatantly. It reached a point where the feeling of injustice ruined my day, feeling like no matter what I did to get the villain to put chips in the middle while I was ahead, they would find their 2 or 3 outs on the river—and it went down just like that, not just once or twice, but happening frequently. I simply can’t believe in GG's randomness anymore when I notice this pattern in the final stages of these tournaments.

I think this happens because players tend to remember much more the times they lost with better hands, but rarely remember the times they won with worse hands. This creates a distorted perception and a feeling of injustice when they lose, even though similar situations also happen in their favor. It's all part of poker variance.

Thanks man, venting here helps me cope sometimes. Taking back-to-back bad beats with dominant hands against the same player has been completely tilting me.

Enough to play there a bit at times but if someone asks me if i completely and 100 % trust them then my answer would be pretty much a clear "Nope".

Not a fan of the whole concept and they already had a superuser scandal. Who knows what else happened and still happens there that was not detected.

I really want to trust them and i tell myself all the time that the whole world plays there including all the pros so they have to be legit. But it just doesn't workout for me personally.

I think its totally legit to be sceptic of this network given some of the threads that exist on 2+2. And they do everything in their power to bring the game to restricted locations via different Skins and in the past even with so called agents who open and controll accounts for players. Doesnt sound to me like something a site would do u can 100 % trust in.

I genuinely agree with you; at certain times I'm not even involved in the hand, but I noticed that the tournament went on longer than expected and I know the CL will shove the blind war with any J7 and beat hands like QQ+. Yesterday, I qualified in second place for the final stage of the Mystery Battle. On the very first hand I played, my AJs lost to an A8 offsuit, costing me half my chips. Then, I took a bad beat when his K8 hit an 8 on the turn and river, after my KQ had flopped top pair of Queens. When I looked down at JJ with a short stack at a final table with 4 players left and over 30 minutes in duration, I was certain it was going to lose to any Q+—and sure enough, it did...

Interesting how there are millions of players who believe that it happens only to them...

Honestly I would avoid going all in online unless you've got the nuts...eliminate the chance for the possibility of the fix...plus narrow range

I have no complaints about GGPoker, but my CoinPoker account seems to be cursed. Something weird is always happening there. 😅

Situations like this happen quite often on any website. But perhaps they occur even more frequently on GG. I’ve noticed this too. However, I don’t think it’s a major issue, as this pattern sometimes works in my favour as well.

Trust is a strong word when it comes to online poker rooms, especially with the history of bot rings and security scandals across various platforms over the years. Their software features are top-notch, but keeping a healthy level of skepticism and not keeping a massive bankroll on any single site is just standard self-defense.

Agreed!!

This thread is filled with whining beginners who can't accept that they just suck at poker and don't understand what variance is (not that it'd even matter in most cases because I'm certain they play so badly they have all sorts of spots they can improve in).

If you want to remain being a donkey... just keep thinkin' the site is out to get you.

Well that is fine but can you imagine if say the Top 100 MTT players on GG practiced this? What about the guys who are playing $25 to $50k in buyins per day? Even mid-stakes players are playing $5k+ in buy-ins per day.

The majority of comments in this thread are from players who have closer to $10 or $20 in their account and still think the site is out to get them because a 60/40 didn't hold and it's completely rigged when a 80/20 loses. OMG So Rigged!!! I know it is... Look.. I lost AA v 55. How can it not be rigged!?!?!?!

I trust, that the cards are dealt randomly on both GG Poker and any other well known site. The reason for this is, there has been no known cases of the cards not being dealt randomly ("rigged deck") in 25 years of online poker. And it would be extremely stupid of any site to do this, since they would almost certainly go out of business, if it was exposed.

I also trust, that my money is reasonably safe on GG Poker, simply because they are so big, that they are unlikely to go bankrupt and not be able to pay players back. This does not mean, I want to use them as a savings account though. Just like I do not want to use any other poker site as a savings account. Money kept on a poker site is for the games, one play there, and nothing else.

However I dont trust, that GG Poker has the best security in the business. As others have said, they had a super user scandal, where someone had hacked into their software, which is basically the first time, this has happened since the "Potripper" scandal 20 years ago. And I also dont think, they have the most customer friendly policies.

But the main reason, why I dont play there much, is because the game selection and offers of PokerStars and ACR Poker simply suit me better. So while I have had an account on GG Poker since june 2026, I still find myself preferring to log on to either PokerStars or ACR Poker the vast majority of the time. I might even withdraw my funds from GG Poker soon, since I have not played there for almost a month at this point.

The main issue for me about GG Poker is their selection of SnGs, which are all hyper turbo lottery style games with a very high rake. I tried the Battle Royal a bit, but I prefer the traditional SnGs of the other sites, and I also lost 30 BIs in a fairly short amount of time. Which might just be variance, but its still not a great motivation to continue playing that particular game, when the structure is bad and the rake very high.

So you believe you have met a superuser (or GG bot), Beto87 who wastes time winning some $1 events instead of earning real money on high stakes? Why on Earth would they do it?

^ This here pretty much sums up my opinion on GG poker almost perfectly.

The only thing I'd add is GG isn't very transparent about certain things, has done some scummy things and for awhile operated with an expired RNG license. If you're not competent enough to keep you RNG license from lapsing that's a freaking problem and not a small one even some might play it off too be. It's simply at best lazy and incompetent. So no they don't have best security and it's funny that it's usually always the high stakes smart players that find the cheaters. When your customers are smarter then the business and people that work there that's a problem and again not a small one.

I also feel almost everything GG does leans towards turning poker more into a game of luck or a lottery and takes skill outta the game as much as they can. And their bum hunting rule is moronic and I don't even care or have to worry about it because I don't bum hunt.....I'll take all comers I simply don't care and play for the challenge just much as I play for a side hustle. I mean bum hunting is basically game selection......game selection is one of the main keys to being a winning player and always has been whether live or online.

With all that said OP at stakes you play and the majority of us play you trust GG as much as any site except Pokerstars. For trust and security Pokerstars is still the gold standard and it's not even close. And some of you can hate that all you want it's a proven fact.

Cheers!!!

I personally believe in GG and I don't think a few bad beats or unfortunate situations are enough to question the fairness of the platform. Poker is a game of probabilities and variance, and even when you are consistently getting your money in with the best hand, you won't always win. That's simply part of the game. When emotions get involved, it's easy to start noticing patterns and feeling like certain outcomes are inevitable, especially during a downswing. I understand the frustration, but I still believe GG's RNG is fair and that these situations are part of the natural variance of poker. Long-term results and a large sample size matter much more than a few painful tournament exits.

It’s rare, but it happens all the time. If it were only at GG, that would be great. Variance.

Do I trust their RNG? Yes. Do I completely trust the company? Probably not wise to put complete faith in a gambling business.

I think even the though of trying to predict who you will lose to or bad beat you is probably setting yourself up. How many times have you done this before and it hasn't eventuated?
