I still miss PKR

I still miss my Rehab=4Quitters avatar playing on PKR. That 3D poker room really made it feel like you were sitting at a real poker table. The avatars, animations, and overall atmosphere made it far more enjoyable than the standard online poker rooms we have today.

Of course, a lot of players claimed PKR was "rigged" because of all the bad beats. But to be fair, people say that about almost every online poker site. Whenever someone loses with pocket aces against 7-2 offsuit, the first reaction is often to blame the software. Variance is simply part of poker, no matter how frustrating it can be.

For me, PKR was all about the unique experience. It felt less like grinding and more like spending an enjoyable evening playing poker with other people. It's a shame that no other poker room has really managed to recreate that experience.

Does anyone know of a poker site that offers a similar experience to PKR? I haven't found anything that captures the same atmosphere and immersive 3D feel. I'd love to hear your recommendations.

I believe, the home game section on PokerStars allow people to play with webcams turned on. But not really sure. I tried it once years ago and did not like it at all

Having played on PKR many years ago when I first started playing online pokerI worked out that their PKR 10cents give away(a 10 player sit and go pot limit game) would not go down to 2 players until 36 minutes, 3 players at 30 minutes, 4 players at 25 minutes. I worked this out by the amount of times players mainly "SIT OUT's" would win with the worst hand when all in before the above timings, after the timings they would lose.
It had a time schedule for the game.

GGpoker has a webcamoption too but still different from PKR's avatars

many play on GGpoker with the same strategy it ssems like... going all in with the worst possible hands and winning all the time...

I see that many times, but also in real life poker i see crazy hands happening when crazy people play poker.
What i like to know is: who can control their servers to see if not 50% of the online "players" are bots from the pokersites.
Ive seen a lot of videos from pokerbot farms and i think its not even possible to control these online poker websites.

I used to like PRK a lot mostly because of the similarities with "Stacked with Daniel Negreanu"
This GAME got me in to poker many years ago , and proudly I can say that Daniel Negreanu was my first NL Holdem teacher

I miss PKR too. It had a completely different vibe from today's poker sites. It wasn't the fastest client, but the 3D tables and avatars made it feel much more social and immersive.
I honestly haven't found anything that captures that same atmosphere. Most modern sites seem focused on speed and multi-tabling rather than creating an experience. I'd definitely give a new PKR-style room a try if someone built one today.

The structure determines the length of the game.

I think one of the better things about PKR was that it was more attractive to recreational players & because of this it was much softer than the other sites at the time (Fulltilt, Ultimate Bet, Absolute Poker, Bodog, Pokerstars, etc. etc.)

I liked PKR because it was immersive with avatars and 3D tables, something absent from today's sites which are just static tables. If a similar platform appeared that recaptured that style of experience, I would definitely play it.

I played there but I didn't use live avatars, I liked the confetti that shoots out when you win a tournament on PKR

I liked PKR, but I rarely played it because the software was incredibly slow, so you could only really play on that room. I don't think there is any room similar nowadays.

Yeah it was the type of site where everything seemed fantastic and innovative at first glance but if u were trying to really "grind" there then all those gimmicks and their slow software became old very quick. At least like this it was for me.

Plus everytime i was really playing there i started to run incredible bad against extremely unreal plays. Was probably just on a downswing playing a short sample but back then i was convinced the site is somehow rigged.

I remember a hand in cash were a guy started to checkraise the turn and then called a pretty big shove by me. If i remember correctly it was cash, NL10 or above. He had deuces, an underpair to the board, against my top 2 or similar and then rivered a deuce. His play made absolute zero sense and after that hand and other weird stuff i saw i deinstalled the software all together.

Not saying they were without s doubt "rigged" but it certainly felt that way to me back then.

The experience was great there. I played there with many friends and we always had great fun flirting, laughing and L (loseeeerrrr) to eachother. Knowing the persons behind the avatars and how they play poker in real life was making it extra fun. Its always good to know which buttons to push to make someboday call your nuts... but PKR gave you the most options to do it... or a sympatic : unlucky when you badbeat a good hand is also missing on ggpoker

i am convinced every online pokerroom is somehow rigged, because i always get the feeling that the worst hands win most of the time.
But the reason you see that more online i guess is because at a real poker table players are more embarrassed to call shit hands. Online nobody knows who they are and the dont feel any shame. But if these online proker rooms are not rigged somehow its unbelievably how many times these nonsence hands win in the end. I always lose if i make bad calls with bad hands...

I had chatgpt make a serious business plan to restart PKR... you'll need about 20 million USD to restart is...
I'm just not there yet with my poker wins
