Pokerstars aurora engine

For anyone playing on lower spec hardware, or who find the Aurora engine causes system performance issues, or even people who prefer the basic table without the bloat, I just received a message on logging in that the legacy table option has now been removed and only Aurora will be available going forward.

Fortunately it seems you can still reduce some settings and disable the stupid throwables if you want to, but as yet I've not tried it on a slow machine, which may well no longer be possible.

I just got this notice as well. I cant play multiple tables with this forced upon me and I cant even watch YouTube and play a single table simultaneously. I dont want to have to purchase a new computer. I may have to write them and complain.

My usual laptop has plenty of memory and works ok, but sometimes I use this laptop for streaming on the TV and have an older one I use on poker. I had to change to legacy view on that because every time someone threw tissues or other crap the software would freeze up and I had to use task manager to kill the process and restart. I will now have to try and set all settings to low and turn off throwables and see if that works.

I generally don't multi table but from your experience it sounds like this would be a problem,

Damm, they even did this for PokerStars PA , they basically just overode all the settings I had in, I just had to restart the client and try to turn off as much of the nonsense as possible. My computer serves as my poker server plus my entertainment , YouTube or music, so far it seems OK , it is a decent machine, but these companies are now just taking away the choice to run a less intensive program. I have to tell you I do not like this world, choices are being removed left and right.

The truth is that I don't like this function so that you play on a machine with few resources, I recommend that you deactivate everything in animation

And the most pathetic part of their message they sent to me about it is the last paragraph..
"We feel that this will provide our players with a much better experience on the table... "

What a load of crap!! What happened to what the customer enjoyed? They MUST know that there will be LOTS of customers who will be very upset by this and many who won't even be able to play. My computer is ~4yrs. old and runs with onboard CPU graphics (I don't have a separate GPU in it because I don't need one for the stuff I do on it!). Previously it excelled for me with poker along with other stuff running simultaneously (I play over a dozen tables with HUD, with youtube, facebook, twitch etc. all at same time). BUT now with Stars, it is really limiting me. For what? Because they feel it will be better for me? Who exactly thinks this? How big of a fail is the staff who is coming up with innovations that are a complete waste of money? Are these the sorts of things they need to show stock holders who know nothing about poker?

This is beyond a joke.

They've truly earned the name "jokerstars" now.

I'd suggest that everyone writes an email in to customer support. Sure it likely won't accomplish anything but at the very least they'll need to send out thousands of canned responses.

New issue just found. Playing a 6 handed cash table. Wanted to check back a hand from a few hands back. Went to replay and clicked back to the hand, message pops up "please restart the client". Table now completely frozen, only way back is to restart. Closed the client and reopened. Tried the same thing to see if it was a one off. Exactly the same problem.

I cannot understand this type of update that only irritates the customer. Update totally unnecessary for pokerstars.

Its not encouraging to hear computers that are only 4 years old are having problems. We need to contact stars and ask for the option to shut off aurora graphics. I imagine Twitter would be the best option. Also retweet anyone having this issue. I will post a tweet @ClintFromNYtoVA complaining about it soon.

With all these changes there is no doubt that PokerStars went from being the best software to the worst. In the mobile application I cannot even see my position in the tournament, something that is very important to take into account especially in the satellites

The only reason that I can see to they force all the players to use this aurora graphs, like 888 did, is for security reasons, but I do not feel this will turn ps less ridged.
Anyone discovered a way to quit aurora and back to normal?

Apparently, one of the streamers who is on Stars team(innerpsy) has been able to disable Aurora Graphics. (I'm not sure how to do it though & haven't tried it yet)

I'm certain it will do nothing (when does Pokerstars listen or care about their customers?)

Maybe if they are bombarded by 1,000's of messages, emails, comments they will reconsider their choice with the Aurora Graphics???

OR... maybe if 1,000's of players choose to stop playing on the site???

Today I am going to remove 90% of my bankroll from the site. It is no longer comfortable for me to play with the new software. I will leave enough to play a few hands of micro stakes.

Dude its not rocket science. Just go to that folder and delete the files before u start the software. Even the dumbest of dumb will manage to do this.

I'm pretty computer literate and I have no idea what you're saying us dumb folks will never manage to figure out.

You know what they say "fat (well, not so much), dumb and happy".

I did make these changes however & that's helped:

The Graphics Quality setting didn't seem to make any difference so I left it at "high".
