The PS greatly reduced the SNGs on the grid. How can we compensate for this reduction in options?

I guess you mean collusion

. ofcourse in a sng of 9 players , also in a 18 or 45 players , 2 or more friends can participate and that gives them an edge over the others . Sngs are hard nowadays I think , I wanted to try playing some in the near future , I will see if I do this . Apparently on Stars , they might have reduced the sng number or availability , but still they offer many games compared to other poker rooms . Maybe that decision by PS was good for the sng poker .ecosystem ???

There is a great site. 888. This site has a huge selection of daily freerolls, and a large selection of other tournaments. I also used to focus on PokerStars, but now I think the 888 is a much better option.

On PokerStars there are less different formats to choose between, but its very easy to get into games without waiting to much. So "almost dead" is a bit of an exaggeration, even though volume was clearly higher in the past. On 888 there is a bit more waiting, but you can still play an SnG session, if you want to, just not during low volume hours.

This I have to disagree with. They are just not as popular, as they used to be, maybe because the majority of recreational players prefer other formats like Spin n Gos or big MTTs, where its possible to win a big price, if you get lucky.

SNGs have already been calculated and solved, and this format is not as interesting as before.

This is much closer to the truth. Programs able to calculate the NASH equilibrium for push-fold spots have been around for a long time, and naturally SnG regs have taken advantage of them to improve this part of their game. So at least the regs play better, than they did 15 years ago, and cuppled with less interest from recreational players, this obviously makes it more difficult to beat the rake.

When regs cant beat the rake, they stop playing, this increase waiting time for recreational players, then they lose interest as well, and then you get this downword spiral, which has been going on for years. PokerStars reduction of game selection is an attempt to halt the process by making the remaining games run more frequently.

Pokerstars increased the number in the room for one nine people and I really like three prizes, and the entries to such tournaments have become favorable

Yeah there is still a wide selection of 9-man SnGs on PokerStars with or without bounties and with different blind speeds as well. So if someone miss the 6, 12 or 18-mans, then maybe just play these instead?

I used to like, play and win in the 2.5 usd sng 180 player. I was disappointed to see it go, now i have to find another similar sng

The closest will be the new 2$ 18-180 man. During peak hours it reaches 100+ players. Still not quite the same, but at least there is much less waiting time.....

I saw the new one, but the winning margins were quite not the same, but we have to adapt.

The top prices are lower, because the buyin is lower, and the field never quite reaches 180 players. But that has nothing to do with "winning margins". Maybe a language barrier?

On the upside the new 5$ 18-45 and 18-180 man at least run frequently except during low volume hours. With the old game selection it was getting more and more difficult to get action, if you wanted to play with more than 18 people and for more than 3,5$ at a time. And for those who prefer regular speed games, there are still a lot of regular speed 9-mans, which also tend to run rather frequently. If players accept the "on demand" format, and more people start to play SnGs again, perhaps some more games can eventually be added back in. But until then I guess, Pokerstars will be satisfied offering a more limited number of games, that run more frequently.

on demand is probably the format to go for many poker rooms in the future since sit and go traffic is declining everywhere. i can for sure understand this move from stars. other than other moves they did in the past

just saw they took away that 0.02 cent game and all the games for 10 cents too, that was a bit unnecessary in my opinion, since these were great to play on the site for have more tables open and for people with almost no bankroll.

I dont have any problem with this. If people cant afford to play for 25c, they can go to the play money tables and practice there

SNGs at medium and high stakes have been dead for a long time. There is no game, there are no fish. Well, these changes will not be affected at micro stakes.

yes you are obviouly right, and im not playing those games anymore anyway. i was just surprised by the fact they took those away because i saw them there in the lobby since i play on pokerstars. this 2 cent game maybe was on their list for a long time because they could not take any rake from this

looks like they really want to put their traffic together and make sure at least some games are running regularly.

I would enjoy what they offer in SNGs -its hard to find SNGs that run on other sites especially in the USA.

Sure and I think, it has worked. The new 5$ 18-45 man does not run 24 hours. But in european evening hours it runs much more frequently than the old 3,5$ 45-mans or any of the other games, it replaced.

Yes so it was generally not a bad idea of them. Better have less game offerings instead of to much games that never fill up. There is nothing more annoying then wait for games to start if you want to play.

Exactly. And there is also a threashold, where if it takes to long for a game to fill, it wont fill at all, because players unregister again. Maybe they then jump into another SnG instead, but there is no point in having an SnG lobby full of games, that rarely if ever run. My only slight complaint about the changes is, that there are no more regular speed MTT SnGs left apart from a 25c and 1$ 18-45 man. It is a little sad, that everything has to be turbos, because it leave limited room for postflop play.
