Unibet just changed approx 80-90% of their 9-max tournaments to 6-max

Remaining 9-max tournaments (the entire day fits in one view)
Unibet

6-max view (does not even cover 30 MINUTES worth of tournaments... jesus christ!)
Majority

Everything you love goes bad. I hate this, I hate this so much. Why can't the new owners of Unibet, The Frenchies who are obsessed with 6-max (has been the standard table size for the France since before dawn of poker) just respect some of the policies and norms that the site originally had, it's not like the customer base has changed.

Unibet Community has also been down for few weeks now and the link has been removed from Unibet's own site. Can someone else try? I did see some community tournaments run but I think they just kept password same.

Their customer support has been top tier in the past but I doubt they will listen anymore if Unibet community is down and the new owners are laying this down as a law. Probably want to reduce the transparency as much as possible and become like any other poker site / casino.

Bit of a strange choise. Most sites have resorted to 8-max as the default format for tournaments, and this seem to be a good compromise.

....I honestly didn't know Unibet still existed.. I wish I could play there, love some 6 max by far,

anyway found a link saying Unibet has lots of data people play 6max over 9max... but when you click

the link it doesn't go to the page as the community is no longer there.... maybe just play the 9max if that's your game👍

For cash games yet but definitely not for tournaments. On ACR Poker 6-man SnGs have basically stopped running, while some of the 8-man SnGs still run occationally. And on PokerStars MTTs in the 6-max format are not those, who generate the largest fields. Most MTT players seem to be happy with cutting one seat and changing 9-max to 8-max, which has definitely become the new norm across sites. But I guess, Unibet will quickly find out, if this move will increase their volume or not. One can perhaps argue, that they are trying to find a niche?

I think it has to do with the number of players. I don't think there are that many players on Unibet.

They moved to discord.

Seems unnecessary for an MTT to be 6max when there are antes driving action imo

Unibet is one of the largest online bookmakers from Sweden.Sometimes I play there and beat weak players.

And blinds go up, which drive action as well. Plus there is often a vacant seat or two, and then you are playing 5-handed or 4-handed. 8-max work just fine for online MTTs and should be the default format IMO.

Wow and holy shit-balls that's a lot of 6 max MTT's. Personally I'm not much of a 6 max guy myself(even for cash tables) but I do honestly wish sites had a few more 6 max MTT's long as they're 8+ min blind levels. But holy that's way too many.

Cheers!!!

Agreed. I think lot of sites tend to choose their preference in amount of seats and then they don't do enough of the other, the balance is usually pretty bad around 90% of their preferred. I think Unibet had such a great balance before this day. They had tons of 6-max tourneys that were really good and popular, Banzai, Battle Royale but they still had default as 9-max and that was great. This is definitely the saddest site to make a big change like this.

I have to check it out and go complain. I hate Discord tho. The community site was so clean and well done.

I think so. I also think the problem is that lot of their most popular tourneys were 6-max and that might mislead them into thinking it's the 6-max that made them popular. Lot of these sites just follow the data. Gaming Data Analyst is one of the most respected, if not the most respected job in casinos. They usually earn the big bucks and make most of the decisions.

Banzai was great because it's fun splash the pot tourney that takes very little time. Battle Royal was popular because of the name.

Sadly I did not follow the actual amounts of players enough so I don't know which one was more popular in no name tournaments. Lot of the nightly Unibet players tend to enjoy the bubble aspects and they play the bubble fairly aggressively splashing the pot... maybe that is the niche they want to focus on.

I play best at 6-max so I am somewhat glad to read this, though I hadn't noticed it!
