The draw for the next World Cup has just ended. As an Argentinian, we had an easy group with Algeria, Jordan and austria. Although Austria is a good team, the tricky thing is that in the next round we would have to face the second place in Group H, which would probably be Spain or Uruguay.

I don't like the format: especially that IMO there are too many teams* 48 is just crazy... favorites get special treatment for Playoff stage... this seems like just another cash grabing competition... I'll probably still follow the competition and maybe place some bets on a few events, but if Romania won't qualify, which is kinda mission impossible away vs. Turkey and after again away vs. Slovacia/Kosovo, my interest/priority for WC2026 will go down even more lol

I don't know what you're talking about; maybe the playoffs are rigged for the Europeans. argentina will have to play against Spain or Uruguay in the round of 32.

New "Tennis-Style" Bracket Protection: The top 4 ranked teams (Spain #1, Argentina #2, france #3, England #4) are guaranteed separate paths. Spain and Argentina are on opposite bracket sides (no meeting before final if both win groups); France and England follow suit. This prevents early clashes among favorites, similar to Grand Slam tennis draws.

Anyway, it didn't change much when there were 32 teams; the powerhouses only played in the quarterfinals if they finished first. In fact, there are now more powers, such as portugal, germany, the netherlands and brazil. Surely there will be a clash of powers in the quarterfinals.
