He likely wants the same or more money then his last fight. Only problem is he lost his last fight and his bargaining power to a dip because of it. This his way of trying to gain some of that last bargaining power back.

There's a story floating around that one sticking point is the UFC doesn't want to make his next fight a main event because it wouldn't be for a title.

If that's true, then the UFC are even stupider than they seem. And they seem pretty f&*king stupid a lot of the time...

From what I been reading .... Conor vs Cowboy Cerrone was in the works but UFC wanted it to Co-Main a PPV. Conor ended up turning it down.

Yeah that's the version I've been seeing too. I don't see why the UFC would even pretend they wanted that to be the case.

Conor sells all the PPVs. Conor doesn't need belts to sell all the PPVs (see his fights with Nate Diaz for proof). Conor main eventing your PPV is a no-brainer, and everyone knows it.

Conner has gotten beaten up every fight since Jose Aldo i think. The hype train comes to an end. How about DC tho! I haven't watched UFC in a long while but the other day i saw he beat Stipe for the title... That is just insane, Jon Jones was afraid to fight Stipe and DC beat him badly and called out brock.

I don't know tho.... Brock was seated so close to the cage door and took like 10 steps and was in the octagon for the face off when DC called him out. Didn't WWE buy UFC? cause it looked fake as ****... If Brock was seated anywhere else and had to make his way to the octagon i might have believed it, But his seating was too perfect... It just felt staged to me.

Agree that UFC should allow main events to be non-title fights. They don't take the divisions or the belts all that seriously to begin with, so when there's money to be made I'd expect them to let things slide.

Yeah it was a strange move by the UFC. I seen a video with Conor saying he is ok with fighting Co-Main but he wants to get paid. My best guess would be that they (UFC) were likely trying to low ball Conor and figured demoting him to CO-Main and tried to use it as an excuse to pay him less (while still getting all the ticket / PPV sales Conor brings).

I hope Connor gets his a55 kicked in every single fight he's ever in for the rest of his life... including the girlfriend he hasn't even met yet. Maybe he can even go busto like some other professional athletes that were also knobs. F0ck Connor. (I'd gladly lose the next 10 parlays in-a-row if Connor loses his next fight)

I don't think being unbeatable or untouchable was ever part of Conor's appeal though - quite the opposite, in fact.

The UFC has had a whole heap of "unbeatable" champions over its history - Aldo, Mighty Mouse, Joanna, GSP, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones. They didn't all draw well, and none of them drew like McGregor.

A big part of that, IMO, was that you didn't really need to watch their fights: you knew who was going to win, and you had a pretty good idea what it would look like. Jones would probably do some violent shit, so that was worth watching. Silva would probably do some comical shit, that was worth watching. GSP was gonna jab - a lot. Aldo would outboxm, pivot and stuff takedowns, it was masterful, but the majority of people obviously thought it wasn't worth watching. Joanna and Mighty Mouse would almost certainly style on their opponents on the way to a decision win - people obviously didn't think that was worth watching either, their loss.

Conor, on the other hand: as soon as he started in title fights and main events, he became interesting specifically because he could lose. You needed to tune in because anything could happen, and it'd probably be entertaining to boot. You still would, if he "unretires", because whoever he fights next you know he's in with a real chance to win AND a real chance to lose.

I think Conor is on a decline. He is filthy rich .... its hard to stay motivated when you already won two belts and have millions in the bank.

I never bought the hype but he is certainly the best self marketer that has come into MMA thus far.

Awesome night of fights. Loved to see Michelle Waterson put on a performance like that against KK. Josh Emmett come from behind and Jack Hermansson were both impressive. We've also been real lucky lately with main events. This one also did not disappoint.

I tried to stay awake for ONE but I just couldn't do it.

It should be a very good fight. It’s hard to bet against Max but it’s also hard to say how moving up will affect him, some fighters can move between weights and it doesn’t affect them or they look even better. I have a small bet on Max in a parlay. I went big on Adesanya.

Some pretty good finishes last weekend. This weekend there are so many fights! The UFC card is lowkey pretty stacked. I wish Bellator was on Friday instead of competing with UFC, but it is what it is. I'll probably watch it tape-delay (if I haven't seen it, it is new to me!).

The legends took a beating this last UFC.

Anderson needs to hang them up and likewise for B.J. Penn. It was horrible watching Anderson lose via leg kick knowing what has happened to his leg. Cardio let B.J. down again as I had him winning the first round (as did two judges) but he tired and slowed and lost the next two. B.J. still has decent boxing but it looks like he isn't throwing with commitment anymore like he use to.

I missed the fights. Sorry to hear about Anderson's fight. And BJ, I used to love watching his fights... years ago.
