The card was pretty good up until the main event. Two huge comebacks, the end of Mark Hunt, and a war for a co-main. The main was a snoozefest though, which just sucks for all parties involved.

That Woodley fight was without doubt the most boring fight I've ever seen. It was awful. They simply stood in front of each for five rounds.

The biggest opportunity of his career so far and he couldn't make weight. Disappointing.

Yeah everyone gives McGregor grief for "ducking" Khabib - and to an extent they've got a point, Khabib would be a bad style matchup for him. But he's not exactly reliable, and his camp doesn't have a good record in that regard either (think about all the fights DC, Cain and Rockhold alone have missed due to injuries in training).

There are all sorts of reasons why Khabib isn't first on McGregor's to-do list. I think the style matchup comes in third at most

I think for Habib there will be another chance. But I doubt that he and McGregor will fight.
The reasons for the different are called, they say even that Conor is afraid of Habib.
In fact, everything is simple. Not Conor chooses whom to fight, but those who stand above him. For them, the main thing in such battles is to earn a lot of money. And the fight with Habib will not bring much profit.

Until there's evidence to the contrary, assume Conor and Floyd will just keep talking nonsense FWIW it'll be the UFC that will get in the way of that fight, wanting to get their cut.

Fighting Mayweather is a no-lose situation for Conor, you've gotta figure he'd take that fight in a heartbeat if it were up to him.

As for Khabib-Ferguson yes it probably still could, but we're running out of time to see it soon. His manager doesn't think he'll be ready again until May, but he also won't fight during Ramadan and that begins in late May, so there's only a small window there before you're talking about this fight happening in the second half of this year, and a lot can change before then.

Perhaps I will agree it not the main reason. But benefit from such fights, is one of factors which considerably influence, on their carrying out.
To take Conor and Floyd's fight what many speak about. From the sports point of view he isn't so interesting. But probability that this fight will take place much above, than Conor and Habib. And one of factors which speak about it it is big benefit from this fight.

Oh I agree, the UFC would probably make it happen if they could get paid an amount they were happy with from it. I meant more that the UFC wanting to get paid as part of the deal would likely be the spanner in the works (as in the size of the UFC's cut would no doubt be a sticking point for Floyd, and probably Conor too).

Conor is under contract. The problem is likely Conor wanting to get paid too much ( Rumor is he wants 100 Million ) . Floyd makes his decisions .... UFC has the ultimate say on if Conor can fight Floyd or not. UFC is not going to allow Conor to make more then the company makes.

The real battle to get this fight made is between UFC and Floyd. Conor needs to be willing to take a third seat and likely will make much less then Floyd and the UFC in this deal. But still allot more then he could ever make in a single MMA match. I am not sure if Conor's ego will allow him to get paid significantly less then his competitor.

I see another issue being who promotes this fight ..... UFC is going to want to ... Floyd is going to want to. They might be able to co-promote and its likely in their best interest to do so but I think Egos will get in the way. No doubt Dana / UFC is going to want to showcase some MMA under such a big Main event.

Floyd is his own boss ... Conor has a contract in which he has to fulfill and can't just go out and fight who-ever.

They were both terrible to be fair. If it was up to me they would have both lost.

Under the official rules though I think Thompson had him beat three rounds to two. Maybe you could say it was a draw if the last round was scored ten/eight Woodley.

I don't agree with Thompson being terrible. He did his fight and won 3 rounds to 2 (or worst case scenerario, a draw). Woodley, on the other hand, remained timid and constantly backing up throughout the whole fight, except when he took Thompson down in the 3rd and at the end of the final round.

Yeah agree with all of that.

That said the UFC are insane if they can make this fight happen and they choose not to. It's not like they've got a single other person on the roster who could make this happen.

Will also be fascinating to see what will happen if the Ali Act gets expanded to include MMA fighers. The UFC might be best to make this fight happen now while they've still got power, rather than running the risk of Conor cutting them out altogether at a later point.

Note the "expert" media scorecards: 5 for Woodley, 8 for a draw, 6 for Thompson. So this is hardly the robbery of the century or worth getting upset over - it was a close fight, in which almost nothing happened and those fights can obv go either way.

Also interesting to note that the NAC rep got in front of the media after the fight to take issue with the scorecards... but only with Sal D'Amato scoring the final round 10-8. If that had've been 10-9 it still would've been a Woodley win, just by split instead of majority decision.

Belfort was totally dominated and defeated. He announced that he will only make his farewell fight and then retire
