Spain play a beautiful game and technically are by far the best football team in the world, they do not have to resort to dirty fouls and constantly diving or feigning injury, dont get me wrong no team is perfect but Argentina knew before they set foot on the pitch yesterday that they were going to struggle to win and keep ball - what we witnessed however was deliberate and for me - the referee had a tough job, he wanted to keep the game flowing but it came at a cost where he failed early on to make a mark with some blatant fouls - one particularly by Lisandro Martinez and another by a player i will admit i do not like or respect despite his ability - Enzo Fernandez.
The rough game is in Argentinas DNA - they are known for it and its a shame because they are an excellent football team albeit without Messi they look ordinary.
I applaud the ref for instantly booking Fernandez for dissant and then a blatant red card but his actions alongside Paredes at full time warrant severe punishment.

Unfortunately, racism is considered acceptable by a significant portion of the Argentine population.
It is almost inevitable to see fans of teams from there mimicking monkeys or hurling racist insults at Brazilian players and fans during Libertadores matches.
Several Argentine tourists have been arrested in Brazil for making racist remarks to the workers serving them.
It is also worth noting that the Argentine who commented on the post was laughing, finding the bus incident funny.
Racism and xenophobia are among the worst attitudes a human being can display. Personally, I find it absolutely disgusting.

While the 2024 offensive chants were completely unacceptable and required severe accountability,it's interesting to look at how discipline translates to the pitch.
In yesterday's World Cup Final against Spain, Enzo proved once again that his emotions get the better of him, getting sent off with a costly red card right before extra time.
True accountability needs to come from both governing bodies and managers, because a player who doesn't respect the values of the game off the pitch will inevitably hurt his team during the biggest moments on it.
