In my opinion the World Cup should continue like this every 4 years. It is something that is so eagerly awaited despite the time. Something unique and wonderful.

I agree, this is a ridiculous idea, in an already congested schedule!! All about the money

In addition to the European Championships, Copa America, African Cup of Nations etc taking place every 2 years, it takes some continents more than 2 years to complete the qualifying for the World Cup, so unless they introduce more international match days (and they probably will!) I don't see how this could be done.

As a capable Argentine, now that I think about it, it would be good for Messi to win a World Cup since he does not have much time left as a professional player.

You're right. FIFA thinks about money, not about players who are not robots to play so many matches every year.

It and the new format (with a lot of teams) will certainly devalue the importance of the World Cup. So I think that it is a bad idea.

Good afternoon. Why change it?.I wouldn´t agree with that. The 4 year period is fine and fair for every country. This idea really has no sense but the money.

The entity's discourse of promoting the evolution of the game in peripheral regions with this change is not supported. It is not with the participation of a selection at the World Cup that the country will evolve, but with work, strengthening of local clubs and investment in infrastructure.

"The World Cup with 48 teams is the result of greed and politics. Forty-eight teams, 80 games, 32 days, income of R$21 billion." (ESPN Brazil)

1982 - 16 teams
1986 - 24 teams
1998 - 32 teams
2022 - 48 teams (FIFA Drops Plan for 48-Team World Cup in 2022)
2026 - 48 teams (Confirmed)

I would not agree on world cup to be happening every 2 years due to the chaotic schedule of all the other cup competitions. Also players have enough matches to play for their clubs.

Then you have the Euros which actually kind of makes it feel like a world cup is happening every 2 years.

I agree! The enjoyment of big games is that only happen every 4 years. It will not be the same if they happen every 2 years.

They probably just want to make more money. Every 4 years is fine.

I am kind of happy that world cup is happening in 2022 as we didn't get 2020 world cup due to the pandemic. But yes, I also think that it should happen every 4 years making it something special.

This is the first time I hear about it, so it's difficult to answer right away. the question arises not only about how the continental championships will then be held, but also how to qualify for the world championship ?! and in general how FIFA will negotiate with the European leagues - it is definitely not profitable for them, and so the game schedules are oversaturated.

Yet it loses its worth if u just toss titles twice as often.
Plus i mean... is there any time off? For the players but also for the fans? I used to be a ahardcore fan. I m constantly getting sick and tired of having a game every damn day of the week. Were is the desire?

FIFA only sees the financial side, it only thinks about making money.

Trivialize an event like the World Cup, organizing the tournament every two years is a bad idea and they know it. But their financial interests are above the sporting side, and that is regrettable.

We definitely love watching those big games and would want them to take place as often as possible, but let's be realistic : On top of 2 local championships, we have 2 major continental championships a year, a continental nations cup every 2 years and a world cup every 4 years. If the latter is changed to 2 years, when are they planning to schedule the qualifications ? How many games a year could they get out of those players ? Unless they intend to introduce robots to play, I don't see how that could be possible.
If all the billions been made right now are not enough for them, then the future of soccer is certainly not in good hands.

Bad idea. There is absolutely no space in the international football calendar. Players have to play to much tournaments with big chance of injurys. A a fan you want to see the best players on the pitch, not on a couch....
