If their owner, the UAE, in this case is effectively funneling in more money than the club is actually generating, they can afford better players, deeper squads, superior training facilities, staff and other resources that clubs operating within their own revenues simply cant match.
Thats why its more than just spending a lot of money, it undermines the competitive balance. It also inevitably raises questions about the legitimacy of their previous victories, because any team could potentially dominate if it had access to essentially unlimited funding from outside its normal revenue stream.
If those rules were deliberately circumvented, there need to be meaningful consequences, potentially including the removal of titles. Otherwise, other clubs have every incentive to find ways around the rules themselves.
I'm not sure how this will end up for them, I feel with appeals etc it will rumble on for a while yet, what I do hope though is an end to those stupid financial rules that keep teams such as my team Newcastle United and Aston Villa at arms length keeping their so called top 6 at the top even though Man Utd have over £1 billion debt and are allowed to keep spending what they want.
