Lionel Messi was only fined by MLS, following the incident with Philadelphia Union's Quinn Sullivan, which occurred during Inter Miami's 2-2 draw on August 19.

Messi has announced his retirement from international soccer . What a career !

Hi ! Both players are legends in this time . For me both players is goats . Good luck at the poker tables . 🙂)

I always saw it as Messi as being the most naturally talented and with the better technique, while Ronaldo was 90% of Messi's level in those regards but with added Athleticism. For the team though, I'd pick Ronaldo.

Messi is much more talented, Ronaldo worked hard to achieve his goals, but both have made great contributions to football.

Messi is the better player, also less of a prima Donna. Ronaldo became a bit too selfish later in his career unfortunately

Most of this thread is not really a disagreement about the players. It is a disagreement about the question.
Compare whole careers and you get Ronaldo's argument, because totals reward longevity. Compare one single match and you get Messi's.
My tie break is a different one: which of the two changed how the other ten on the pitch played. That one I do not find close. But I understand anyone who counts trophies and lands on the other side.

Both are insanely good players that don't appear often, but if I have to choose one - Messi is my GOAT... I mean even this year we have Messi in the conversation of winning the Ballon d'Or - it would have been a sure thing if Argentina won the World Cup Final vs. Spain and IMO it should still be his 9th Ballon d'Or as MLS is a pretty good league nowadays and we've also seen at the biggest competition, except the Final, that Messi was still the best player on the field at this World Cup * not just his team...

I think it will be many decades before Argentina sees a footballer like Messi again.
