Downing's selection is utterly absurd, there are so many players who should be considered ahead of him, a number of whom aren't even considered because they don't play for fashionable clubs.

I disagree with you putting Barry in the same class as Downing. Barry has been excellent all season and more than deserves his place in the team as well as the starting XI. Downing, the mind boggles. Not even had one match yet and I've managed to lose faith in Hodgson, quite an accomplishment and probably the biggest accomplishment he will have as England manager.beardyian said:

As an Evertonian I am also bored and sick to death with the endless debate about who will be the next Liverpool manager, me and 90% of fans dont care, but turn on the radio, TV or read a paper and you cant get away from it.
There used to be a big 4, then a big 5, now its a big 8 and if they finish 10 next season it will be a big 10, they used to have a great team they aint any more, 20 years without winning the prem says it all. Ian, you have just been crossed off my christmas card list 😀 you never know what is going to happen in football but I would think it would be highly unlikely he would go over to the dark side, it is just not done, he would never be able to walk anywhere safely, there would always be some idiot wanting to have a go at him.
