What did you think of the 2026 World Cup?

I actually enjoyed the 2026 World Cup quite a lot. The expanded 48-team format had some question marks beforehand, but I think the tournament delivered plenty of good games, surprises and drama. The atmosphere across the three host countries was also a big positive.

That said, some of the more American-style elements felt a bit unnecessary, and the tournament sometimes seemed overly commercialized. Overall though, I’d say it was a successful World Cup and definitely one I enjoyed watching. All in all, I think it was much better experience than expected.

The format did most of the damage, before a single match was played. 48 teams and 104 games means the group stage stops being a competition and becomes a sorting exercise. Half of those games, we knew who was going through.
What I do not buy is that the players were worse. There were just too many games with nothing at stake. Fewer teams would have fixed more than better referees would.

Honestly, I thought it was a pretty entertaining World Cup overall. The expanded 48-team format brought some great surprises, although not every match was exciting. Spain winning it and Messi reaching one last final made it a memorable tournament for me.

For me, the real World Cup for entertainment lovers these days is the 2026 Socca 6×6 World Cup. The matches are fast-paced, full of goals, and packed with excitement from start to finish. If you enjoy attacking football and non-stop action, I highly recommend watching it—you might even find it more entertaining than traditional 11-a-side football.

The hydration breaks ( so big time advertising money could be earned by FIFA and the networks ) were a joke .It's not a 4 quarter game !

Personally, I have to say that I felt the 2026 World Cup was heavily manipulated in some respects. There were simply too many controversial refereeing and VAR decisions, and some situations left me questioning whether everything was really as fair and transparent as it should have been.

I’m not saying that every match was fixed, but some decisions were difficult to understand, especially when they had such a major impact on the outcome of games. I know this is a controversial opinion, but after watching the tournament, that’s honestly how I felt.
