Hi everyone, the Bounties weren't active yet.

How would you have played this hand?

PF: I didn't want to 3-bet the UTG, and then I can't fold to a 3-bet from the BB,

F is definitely not favorable; if I C-bet from the BBI fold

T’s bet is so small I won’t fold, though I do have a 5% equity on a J.

R checks again—what do you think is the right play here?

What can we beat on the turn? 10-10? I wouldn’t 3-bet any wider than that.

AA, AK, AQ—he won’t skip the c-bet on the flop with such a dynamic flop.
He opened a little on the turn; if there’s an A on the flop, he’ll definitely open. He might have KQs or KK.
If he has a flush or a full house, I don’t think he’ll check. Could I have gone all-in here?

Preflop
JJ often just want to call preflop 100BB deep, unless its a late position open, because its such a disaster to get 4-bet. So this looks good. The 3-bet is pretty massive, but I dont think, we can fold JJ in position.

Flop
Pretty bad flop so folding to any C-bet.

Turn
I guess, another K is a good card for you, since now its less likely, he has one, but there are still not many 3-betting hands, you beat here, and you dont have a heart in your hand. So even to this delayed C-bet of 1/3 pot I would still fold.

River
Your hand is definitely a bluffing candidate as played, since you have very little showdown value. Like maybe you can beat TT without a heart of QJs not of hearts. But often these hands just call preflop, and if they did play like this, then at least some of the time they would be bluffing now, because they have no showdown value either. So if you check back here, I dont think, you will hardly ever win. Like maybe 5% of the time at most.

But on the other hand I would also not rule out, that someone playing at this level might be checking some boats on the river to trap you. So I dont think, this would be a massively profitable bluff, and its obviously very high variance, since you would be putting in another 64BB. So I probably also dont pull the tricker here but just check back and give up. But I would not have called the turn bet, so I would not even have to make this decision.

** Summary **

sezon1th shows [ Qc, Qs ]

Gyurika90 shows [ Jd, Js ]

First runout sezon1th collected [ 16,932 ]
Since I know the outcome, it’s clouding my judgment and I can’t see things clearly.

Yeah, I should have folded to the 4-bet, and this is a higher-stakes tournament.

You’re right—that would have been the best play. If I’d folded, I’d have had two outs; if it I had a jack of hearts, it would have been even easier to call.

There are few combinations I can fold here against him; it would have been a bad bluff, and I really do have enough chips left to continue in the tournament

Thanks for your help!

We actually could fold this since there are going to be a TON of ugly flops for this situation, especially since he 3-bet from BB over an UtG open (!!) but calling is certainly not wrong especially at our stack depth.

Geo90 said:

We would not be c-betting. We're not the PFR. We flatted the UtG open and flatted again the BB 3-bet. However, on a flop THAT ugly we have to check back because it smashes his tight range. Not only that, we don't have a flush draw on the monotone flop! Our best bet here is to bluff the hearts because this flop smashes his range and if he actually hit it (which it looks like he did) the hearts scare him. This is a pretty ugly situation though. I think that I'm ready to give up. We should check back and if we turn a J then we can play, and if not, we're not putting any more money in.

I would agree here except that the K is just GROSS. We can't even hit a J now. Jacks full of Kings LOSES to AA, KK and AK. Although it does beat a flush but Villain has hit this flop with a made hand so he can't possibly have a flush (less hands that could pay us). There is nothing ahead of us that will fold and we can't even bluff a flush if he has a boat which he quite likely does. His flop check and small turn lead make perfect sense with his range. He's out of position with strength on a foldy flop. He can't afford to fold you out on the flop with AA, AK, KK, heck even AQs. But then on the turn he has a monster and he wants to get paid. He can't check 2 streets with such thick value. Normally, yes his bet is so small and too callable, but our equity is decimated with that K turn and we can just fold.

I wouldn't put any more money in here. We can bluff him off of AQ, QQ, TT (so long as he doesn't have a heart!!). We're behind AA, KK, AK (which are more likely for 3-bets pre) and cannot bluff him off of these. It's not worth it.

Yes I think, you are being a little results oriented here, because he turned over a hand, that you lost to, and that would most likely have folded to a jam. But going back to preflop he made a huge 21BB 3-bet out of position from the BB against an UTG+1 raise and MP call with around 80BB left behind in his stack. The open raise was slightly bigger than normal because of the UTG limp, but even so he could easily have thrown in 2,5BB more to see a flop.

So how many bluffs does he really have here, and what is the worst hand, that does this for value? He cant really have JJ, since you have it, and AK is kind of already a bluffing hand with blockers. So QQ might be the bottom of his value range, and if he dont have any bluffs other than AK, then the only hand, you would be targeting with a river bluff, would be the exact one, he had. 3 combos of QQ with no heart.

So for me seeing QQ with no heart here mainly confirm, that the turn should have been a fold, and that maybe you could even have considered a very tight fold preflop. If he had shown up with AQo no heart or A5s, thats the time, where you might think, that perhaps turning your hand into a bluff would have been profitable, because his range contained enough of such in between hands.

Watching replayer stopping on each action by you
To study we dive deep into each thought on each action
Preflop JJ MP
UTG limps UTG1 raises to 3.5BB
What are the ranges?
UTG range wide open? Or concentrated to AXs -small pairs -do they limp TT 99?

UTG1 what pairs do they 3.5x ? Suited AX? T9s etc build the ranges.

Based on UTG1 range and UTG seeming loose should we flat or raise?

If we raise what sizing is the most effective vs a condensed UTG1 range?

If we raise and UTG1 shoves, why would we call?

what do pro players suggest you do with JJ in this spot? Research that point.

You flat 1 call BB squeeze what range? Why would BB attack UTG1 strong raise? Why expect UTG1 to fold?

BB range dictates your next action if they have enough hands that will fold or call and be worse play for stacks if they do not then fold.

You choose to flat- What is the plan post flop?
My plan would be to get all-in on a low board and fold to the board you got all-in on.

PF I think the situation is a bit tight; the pot odds are 34%, so I definitely have an advantage.

It's just a translation error; if my opponent had made a C-bet of any size, I would have thrown it in.

A: Yes, the flop has changed here, and even if J comes, we often lose — we could have thrown here.

Ráadásul nincs flösshúzónk a monoton flopnál!

Most még J-t sem tudunk ütni.

A: Yes, the flop is drunk, and even if J comes, we often lose - we could have thrown here.

Yeah, I just overthought the situation; honestly, it was the only card I could use to get my opponent to throw — the QQ.
